Outside Draw Will Suit Zipping Teresa

By Jeff Collerson
Zipping Teresa will exit box eight for the first time on Wednesday night at Richmond but trainer Jason Magri believes his exciting 22 month old bitch will be comfortable wearing the pink rug.

Undefeated in three races at Richmond, Zipping Teresa will start from the outside trap in the Flying Ricciardo At Stud Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Zipping Teresa is coming off a slick 29.86 Wentworth Park win and a pair of second placings at headquarters and Magri is happy seeing her drawn wide.

"I think she is better off there because she doesn't like other dogs crowding her on her outside,'' Magri said.

"She handles outside alleys well and won her maiden at Richmond from box six in 29.77 which was the best time of the night.''

Magri also has Zipping Optimise, a litter brother to Zipping Teresa and his sensational Wentworth Park youngster Zipping Megatron, in Wednesday night's Ladbroke It! Maiden over 520m.

Zipping Optimise made his Richmond debut when second to Binalong Time last Wednesday from box seven and has the same draw this week.

"He is not quite as good as Zipping Megatron but he is pretty smart,'' Magri said of Zipping Optimise.

"He is a 29.60 dog around Wentworth Park and I think he should be okay from box seven on Wednesday.

"Zipping Optimise didn't have much luck when second at Richmond last week and is ready to win.''

Lochinvar Pearl is boxed to win Wednesday night's fifth race, a 622m fifth grade, according to trainer Ruth King.

Lochinvar Pearl has been placed in two of three middle distance races over 600m at Dapto over the past month but is making her first appearance at Richmond.

"I recently trialled her over 622m there and while she didn't go crash hot she went well enough to suggest she will be hard to beat on Wednesday,'' King said.

"Lochinvar Pearl clocked 36.20 for the 622m and I was told the track was not fast.

"So she should be able to break 36 on Wednesday night.

"Lochinvar Pearl looks drawn to get plenty of favours in the early stages because she has drawn one and Mount Tate, the bitch in box two, tends to get wide.''

Zipping Rousey has not raced for three months but is drawn to win first up after coming up with box one in Wednesday's Steeline Riverstone Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Zipping Rousey has worn the red rug just once in 11 starts, and that was on debut in March when she led all the way to win a 520m maiden race at Wentworth Park in a sizzling 29.68.

She carved out early splits of 5.47 and 13.86 that night so should only need to come close to repeating that performance to lead throughout on Wednesday.

Highlight of Wednesday night's Richmond card should be the clash of the Finn-trained kennelmates Zipping Vanessa and Zipping Orlando in the 622m GRNSW Middle Distance Series Stakes.

Zipping Vanessa won the $100,000 to the winner Sydney Cup over 720m at Wentworth Park on October 13, overcoming a mediocre getaway to score by four lengths in a slick 41.81.

Zipping Orlando was third to final winner Jay Is Jay in a 520m Million Dollar Chase semi-final at Wentworth Park on October 10 but is better suited over Wednesday's 622m journey.

The draw favours Zipping Vanessa, who has box one, but she would be better placed over a slightly longer trip and while Zipping Orlando has drawn five, he has only five rivals and has the luxury of having a vacant box on his right.
