Pearl Back To Her Brilliant Best

By Jeff Collerson
She's back! Australia's top sprinter She's A Pearl is expected to illuminate Wentworth Park when she resumes after almost six weeks on the sidelines in Wednesday night's 520m Good Odds Harada Saturday Free-For-All.

She's A Pearl won 13 consecutive races between February and August and will exit box five on Wednesday as she Chases her 19th win from her past 22 starts.

She has not raced since finishing fourth to He's On Fire in a Million Dollar Chase semi-final at Wentworth Park on September 16 which followed a narrow win over the same greyhound in a heat six nights earlier.

Andy Lord, whose wife JODIE trains She's A Pearl, said their greyhound, who made history this year by winning the Golden Easter Egg/Million Dollar Chase double, is now back to her brilliant best.

"She had a post-to-post slip after the last race at Wentworth Park on October 15 and clocked a flying 23.81,'' Lord said.

"And at her final hit-out leading up to Wednesday she went up the straight course on our property and recorded 15.21 on a bog track.

"The fastest any greyhound has gone on our track is 15.11 so that tells us She's A Pearl is at her peak again.''

On Wednesday She's A Pearl has box five and has won four of her five outings wearing the yellow rug.

Her only serious rival looks to be the ideally drawn Aston Barak, who has box one as he Chases his 10th Wentworth Park win in 31 appearances.

An unraced JODIE Lord-trained greyhound, Cartel Model, will be sent out a warm favourite for Wednesday's opening event, the NSW GBOTA Welcome Maiden over 520m.

Cartel Model is a younger half-brother to the Lord family's Coast Model, who has won 16 races at WP, earned over $226,000 and was runner-up to kennelmate She's A Pearl in the Million Dollar Chase on May 7.

"He goes good, he has inherited plenty of his family's ability, as Cartel Model and each of his 21-month-old littermates has talent,'' Andy Lord said.

Club Model, another half-sister to Coast Model, has strong claims at a good price in Wednesday's Happy Birthday Jordan & Zara Stakes, a 520m fourth and fifth grade.

With three Wentworth Park wins to her credit Club Model is clearly the most successful city greyhound contesting Wednesday's race, and trainer Scott Morgan is happy with her box six draw.

"She is better suited drawn wide and having a vacant box in five will help her too,'' Morgan said.

"Club Model made the pace when third behind two strong finishers, Black Eye Jack and Barton, in a heat of the Lithgow Golden Muzzle on October 15.

"That was a good run because she had not previously seen the track.

"On Wednesday Mick Clayton's greyhound Start Packing looks hard to beat but Club Model has good early pace and if she beat that greyhound to the first turn she has a great chance.

"Club Model goes much better when she is right on the lure.''

Zambora Tiger could boost her impressive strike rate of seven wins from 15 races by leading throughout in Wednesday's #getyourgreyhoundon Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

With a personal best Wentworth Park time of 29.58 Zambora Tiger is far and away the quickest in this lineup and box six should not be a problem.

Zambora Tiger has won each of her two races from box six, clocking a tidy 22.32 over 388m at Gosford and a sizzling 22.26 for the Maitland 400m trip.
