She's Back Ready To Show Her Best

By Jeff Collerson
She's A Pearl has not raced since being injured when fourth in a heat of the group 1 Ladbrokes National Futurity a month ago but trainer Jodie Lord says her greyhound is "flying" and ready to make a successful return to racing at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

She's A Pearl, who has box eight in the 520m Blink Print Stakes, a third and fourth grade, won six Wentworth Park races in succession before being bundled out of the Futurity series, for which she had been early final favourite.

After the Futurity heat stewards reported She's A Pearl had suffered a lacerated hind leg and she was stood down from racing for 10 days.

But her six-win Wenty streak included sizzling 29.64 and 29.68 performances where she posted electrifying first splits of 5.33 and 5.37.

"The injury she sustained in the Futurity heat was not too serious and she is ready to roll again,'' trainer Lord said.

"She's A Pearl is flying at the moment and box eight suits her because she has won each of her two races from the outside draw.''

Georgia Keeping's 32.89 win over 570m at Temora on January 27 was just .34sec outside a long-standing track record but connections are not confident of her registering her first Wentworth Park win in Wednesday's Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes.

Shayne Stiff, partner of Georgia Keeping's trainer Charmaine Roberts said: "Charmaine is building our greyhound up to 720m at Wenty.

"She is capable of winning over 520m but box five is the problem on Wednesday.

"Georgia Keeping can only clock 5.60 to the first mark so needs luck in running from that draw.

"She has to find the fence early because she won't drive hard until she reaches the rails.''

Trainer Steven Albon rates Bow Tippy a quicker greyhound than her kennelmate and litter sister Pea Bow but thinks their box draws give the slower of the pair a better winning chance on Wednesday at Wentworth Park.

"Bow Tippy has box two in the Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes but while she has won from that draw, I would have preferred her boxed wide because she runs straight from the start to the first turn,'' Albon said.

"While Bow Tippy won at Wentworth Park last Wednesday and Pea Bow finished third, I thought she was unlucky because another dog was leaning on her for part of the race.

"Pea Bow has box two in race nine on Wednesday and is well positioned as she likes an inside alley.''

All Nose was a certainty beaten when second at Wentworth Park last Wednesday but his lack of early pace could bring him unstuck again in Wednesday's Tuffrock K9 JF Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Despite drawing box six Spring Meteor is likely to be ahead of All Nose (box three) at the crucial first turn and has the early zip required to enhance his consistent Wentworth Park tally.

In six races at Wentworth Park Spring Meteor has recorded two wins and four placings and the Joshua Board-trained youngster has missed a place just once in 11 starts.

Catch Me Nero justified trainer Jason Magri's confidence in his ability to see out 720m "first up" at Wentworth Park last Wednesday and meets a similar lineup in Wednesday's Friday Night Racing @ WP Stakes, a fourth and fifth grade over the same trip.

Last week Catch Me Nero showed his inexperience at 720m when he appeared to run his race in patches, but he went to the line strongly to run down Lucky Dice in a tight finish.

Although Catch Me Nero goes from box two last week to box six on Wednesday, he will derive benefit from his initial staying test and should only need clear air in the charge to the first corner to win again.
