Timeless Ready For Her Moment Out Wide

By Jeff Collerson
There is not a better drawn greyhound racing at Wentworth Park on Saturday night than Timeless Moment, who will wear the pink rug in the 520m Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes.

Timeless Moment has won eight of 34 starts but her strike rate would be greater if it was not for tendency to run so wide.

But Timeless Moment has won three of her five starts from box eight and two from three out of box seven so should relish drawing the extreme outside on Saturday.

In two starts from a spell, over 400m at Richmond, Timeless Moment scored a slick 22.77 win from box six on October 28 before finishing second in a similar race, from box two, in 22.74 on November 1.

"After the last Richmond race Timeless Moment cut the back of her foot and needed stitches,'' Melinda Finn, whose husband John trains the greyhound said.

"She is 100 per cent again now and while we have not had her back to Wentworth Park, we gave her a trial over 472m at Bulli and she went well.''

Timeless Moment, who is a daughter of Doreen Drynan's National Sprint Championship winner Chica Destacada, won the 2019 group 3 Magic Maiden final at Wentworth Park when trained by Drynan's daughter Kerry.

Maximum Refusal, who made the pace when fourth to Blazing Hype in a 720m Wentworth Park fourth and fifth grade on November 7, switches back to 520m for Saturday night's Ladbrokes Cash In Stakes.

Maximum Refusal had won nine of 40 provincial starts before his Wentworth Park debut earlier this month and trainer Andrew Mulrine is pleased with his dog's inside draw on Saturday night.

"He box eight in that 720m race but he has drawn one on Saturday and that is his box,'' Mulrine said.

"Maximum Refusal is no world beater but he has ability and this looks a winnable race.

"I'm still not convinced he won't run 720m but for the moment 520m and middle distance events look more suitable.''

Pablo Mouse has reeled off smart sectional times in each of his two most recent Wentworth Park wins and drawing wide in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Switch Stakes, 520m, should have him in front all the way.

The Sam Sultana-trained speedster posted splits of 5.50 and 13.92 when he won from box six in 30.09 on October 21 before clocking 29.95 after recording sectionals of 5.48 and 13.86 in scoring from the same draw 10 days later.

Pablo Mouse had box two when sixth at his latest Wentworth Park outing on November 4 but that run can be forgotten as the dog missed the jump before running off and colliding at the first bend.

He is at his best when drawn wide and should only need to step cleanly to steal a winning break in the middle stages.

Giarre, who has been placed in two of four Wentworth Park starts, gets his chance to break through at generous odds in Saturday night's Sponsor A Race At Wenty Stakes.

Giarre led until the half-way mark when third, from box three, at Wentworth Park last Saturday but got wide and could be suited out in box seven this week.

Michael Nicolaou, whose wife Rita trains the greyhound, said: "Giarre is a town on Sicily's east coast and that's where Rita's family is from.

"Personally I prefer Giarre drawn inside but while his best Wentworth Park 520m time is 30.51, I gave him a box-to-box trial there and he clocked smart splits of 5.46 and 13.95, so he can show early pace.''
