Timeless Moment following in some famous footsteps

By Jeff Collerson

Timeless Moment could be on her way to a career as a stayer following her impressive all-the-way win at only her second middle distance test at Richmond last Friday night.

Despite racing in her customary "middle of the track'' style, Timeless Moment went to the line solidly to cover the 618m in 35.83, slick time on a rain-affected.

Timeless Moment is a younger half-sister to champion stayers Poco Dorado, Blue Moon Rising and Veloce Nero, and is from the same Barcia Bale-Chica Destacada litter as noted long-distance performers Really Unreal and Blue Summer Sky.

"I was happy with her win at Richmond because Timeless Moment went into the race a little under-done,'' owner-trainer Kerry Drynan said.

"I have been waiting for a fifth grade 618m race there for her because I did not want to throw her in anywhere and find her opposed to experienced top graders.

"Timeless Moment's biggest bugbear is that she runs so wide.

"She was well placed in box eight on Friday because when she draws inside, she is relentless in her determination to get to the outside, she just won't stop until she does.

"Looking at how she went on Friday I think Timeless Moment will get 720 metres at Wentworth Park.

"The only greyhound I have had in a long distance race there was Desiderata, a few years ago, but she had only one 720m because she just could not run out the trip.''
