GENERAL INFORMATION
The Gardens Greyhound and Sporting Complex (formerly Breakers Stadium) situated at 104 Sandgate Road, Birmingham Gardens opened in 2005, which heralded the return of greyhound racing to Newcastle after the closure of Beaumont Park at Hamilton in the late 1990’s.

The NSW National Coursing Association initially owned and conducted the operations at the complex.

In early 2014, The Gardens Greyhound Club was formed and from July 1, 2014, The Gardens Greyhound Club, with a strong a membership base, operated all racing and trialling operations at The Gardens which was soon to be known as Ladbrokes Gardens after corporate betting giant Ladbrokes signed on as the major sponsor of the venue.

At an extraordinary meeting in January, 2023, The Gardens Greyhound Club members voted unanimously for Greyhound Racing NSW, the owner of the site, to take over the racing and trialling operations of the complex with the Club to remain as a Supporters (Social) Club and assist with facilitating greyhound racing at the complex.
