Sublime Ethics To Go Even Faster This Time

By Jeff Collerson
Sublime Ethics was heavily backed in her all-the-way win at her Wentworth Park debut last Wednesday night but trainer David Smith believes she is capable of running even faster time there this week.

Sublime Ethics, who has box eight in Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, stopped the clock at a nippy 30.07 last week after scurrying away with a huge early lead.

She faded in the straight to win by a length and Smith believes she could have been short of a run.

"When I previously trialled her at Wentworth Park Sublime Ethics clocked 29.85 for the 520m and ran home in 11.89,'' Smith said.

"But last week when she won she took 12.04 to run home so that indicates she probably needed the run, especially as I had not done a lot with her following her good trial at Wenty.

"I have a high opinion of Sublime Ethics because in trials she beats all the other dogs I have at home.''

Lithgow Road has drawn boxes five, seven and six in landing a hat-trick of Wentworth Park wins in April and this month but trainer Paul Roach is delighted seeing her in box one in Wednesday's siresonice.com.au Stakes, a 520m fourth and fifth grade.

Lithgow Road recorded her personal best Wentworth Park  time of 29.86 when she notched her third successive Wentworth Park win, from box six on May 13.

"Box one is great because I think it will draw her out of the boxes faster,'' Paul Roach said.

"She does not have to jump in front, if she just comes out with them and gets clear running Lithgow Road will drive along the rails going to the first turn.''

Although Skedaddle Jamie has not won in eight assignments wearing the box one red rug, trainer Mark Suttle is happy to have her drawn on the rails in Wednesday night's Ladbroke It! Masters Stakes, a 520m third grade.

Skedaddle Jamie came from box six when she led from the first turn and scored an easy win in identical grade at Wentworth Park on May 10, clocking 30.05, just .02sec outside her best Wenty figures, posted 12 months ago.

"While she has not won from box one, Skedaddle Jamie has run into some hot dogs in those races,'' Mark Suttle said.

"She will handle box one comfortably on Wednesday, I consider her extremely well drawn.

"But I do have a healthy respect for My Margarita, who has box eight, because he is very strong at the end of 520m.''

Wednesday's long-distance event, the Ladbrokes Sports Bar Now Open Stakes, a 720m fifth grade, is an intriguing affair.

John Finn's budding staying star Zipping Vanessa has box one, whlie the Andy Lord-trained pair Palawa Queen and Spread The Load will exit boxes two and eight.

Spread The Load is slow early but is ideally positioned, although she may be forced to concede too much start in the early stages to Zipping Vanessa.

In Wednesday night's 520m Free-For-All, Modern Swinger will be favoured to notch his eighth win in a dozen Wentworth Park outings after drawing box one.

The CHRIS O'Brien-trained dog wore the red rug to a determined 29.76 victory at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but faces serious opposition on Wednesday from Tommy Kade (box five) and the in-form Ibrox Wildfire (box seven).
