Embrace Well Placed On Wednesday

By Jeff Collerson
Embrace is a Wentworth Park Group one winner and while she has been unplaced in four starts since winning at headquarters on January 14 she looks ideally placed to notch her fifth city win on Wednesday night.

Embrace is a wide runner but that should not stop her taking out the 520m Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Stakes, a fourth and fifth grade.

She had box three when defeating Sound Of Silence and Ties That Bind, with Coast Model and Simply Limelight unplaced, in a top class Wentworth Park event in mid-January and has the same draw on Wednesday.

Her personal best Wentworth Park figures of 29.68, posted from box four last August, are .26sec quicker than any of her rivals and in her past four outings she has chased home top notchers like She's A Pearl (twice), Mia She's Fast and Scramjet.

Trainer Craig Chappelow said: "Embrace certainly looks well placed on paper, she just has to do it on the night now.

"This seems to be one of the more suitable races she has been in lately and she is trialling well, she has not gone off as far as her form goes.

"Embrace is partial to Wenty and if you want your greyhound to like one track that is the one.

"Embrace's past couple of races have been in tougher events at Gosford and Richmond and previously when she has come back to Wentworth Park she has usually come good.''

Pink Tickles has given trainer Sharon Grey two Wentworth Park wins in five weeks but the Wingham trainer rates that greyhound's litter sister What A Rush as her better prospect at headquarters on Wednesday night.

What A Rush has box seven in race nine, a 520m fifth grade, while Pink Tickles will exit the same draw in race seven, another 520m fifth grade.

What A Rush made the pace when a distant third to Max Rocha and Zipping Edith in a far tougher assignment at Wentworth Park last Wednesday when she raced wide from box one.

"She is much better than her form suggests and has clocked a very smart 29.32 in a 515m public trial at The Gardens,'' Grey said.

"What A Rush has not had a lot of luck lately but I'm really pleased seeing her drawn in box seven on Wednesday.

"She is out where she wants to be.''

Zenani, who has scored four wins and two thirds from her past seven provincial starts, makes her Wentworth Park debut in Wednesday night's sixth race, a 520m fifth grade.

Zenani has box one and trainer Harry Sarkis said: "I couldn't wish for a better draw for her.

"Zenani has pace to burn but this is not an easy race.

"While she has not raced at Wentworth Park I gave her a post-to-post trial there and she clocked a nippy 24.30 before running home in a strong 11.60.''

But Tommy Kade, who has won four races at Wentworth Park, looks thrown into this fifth class event.

While the JODIE Lord-trained dog has box five, the draw should not worry him as Tommy Kade is a reliable beginner who prefers to run in the centre of the track.
