Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase

Outstanding Figures For MDC Final Night

By Adam Dobbin
THE innovation of the TAB Million Dollar Chase continues to be wildly popular with punters with Saturday night’s Wentworth Park meeting soaring past $7 million in turnover.

In total, $7.3 million was wagered across the star-studded 10-race program, the lofty figure the third highest recorded at a NSW greyhound meeting in the sport’s history.

Only the record $9.2 million turnover figure of the 2020 TAB Million Dollar Chase and the $7.7 million invested in the first MDC in 2022 have reached greater heights than Saturday night’s mark.

But considering the first two marks were achieved either deep into or just on the fringe of the unprecedented Covid wagering boom, it can be argued that Saturday night’s figure is of equal significance.

More than 400,000 people tuned in to watch the Million Dollar Chase via Fox League’s coverage post the Souths and PENRITH preliminary final.

While the merits of the 10.30pm starting time will no doubt come up for strong debate leading into the 2023 finale, it seems to have done little to deter punters away from investing on the showpiece event.
