New Major Sponsor For Coonamble Carnival

In the lead up to their long standing sponsorship of Saturday night’s Golden Easter Egg, betting giant Ladbrokes has signed on as major sponsor of Coonamble’s October long weekend carnival in 2022.

An integral part of the fabric of Australian greyhound racing for more than five decades, the Coonamble carnival is an institution in country racing, renowned for its frenetic betting activity and social atmosphere.

And the news that Ladbrokes has thrown its support behind the four-day racing extravaganza is a huge boost for a carnival that looks to return bigger and better in 2022 following two Covid punctured years.

“Ladbrokes is excited to be throwing its support behind Coonamble’s October long weekend carnival in 2022,” said Ladbrokes Executive Director of Stakeholder Engagement Karl deKroo.

“It’s another demonstration of Ladbrokes’ unwavering commitment to support greyhound racing at all levels.

“In the week that we sponsor New South Wales’ most prestigious event in the Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park, we have also pledged our support to the Coonamble carnival at grass roots level.

“The team at Ladbrokes is really looking forward to getting behind what is Australia’s most famous country greyhound racing carnival.”

This year’s carnival will be headlined by the $12,000-to-the-winner Ladbrokes Gold Maiden (305m) while an array of attractive support races are programmed with record level stake money.

Coonamble Greyhound Racing Club (CGRC) president Graham Pickering said he was delighted that Ladbrokes had thrown its support behind the carnival in 2022.

“On behalf of the Coonamble club and all the participants that frequent the carnival I extend my sincere gratitude to Ladbrokes for their generous sponsorship,” Pickering said.

“Attracting a major sponsor with the commitment and desire of Ladbrokes isn’t easy and their support is invaluable for the carnival to proceed.

“Away from racing, the activity in the town during the carnival means an awful lot to Coonamble and its businesses so Ladbrokes’ support extends far and wide.

“This news will put a real spring in the step of participants in the region and kick-starts the countdown to ensuring the carnival returns better than ever in 2022.”

The carnival will begin on Friday, September 30 leading into a bumper day of finals action on Monday, October 3.

As always, the famous calcutta will be staged on Sunday, October 2 at Coonamble Bowling Club, which coincides with the NRL Grand Final later in the day.

Long standing sponsor Garrard’s Horse & Hound will also return in 2022 with their support of the carnival another important cog in ensuring its success.
