Consistency Gets The Cash

By Jeff Collerson
Four wins and two seconds from nine starts since New Year's Day make Redeem Our Cash among the most consistent greyhounds at Wentworth Park this year and she is poised to build upon that fine record in Saturday night's LGEE Radley Bale Stakes.

Redeem Our Cash has box two in the 520m fourth and fifth grade and trainer Allan Ivers believes she is capable of leading all the way.

"She is well drawn in box two and because there does not appear to be a great deal of early pace among her rivals Redeem Our Cash has a good chance of going straight to the front,'' Ivers said.

"She is down a bit in class and she pulled up well after she finished fourth at Wentworth Park last Saturday night when she was unable to make the pace.

"I'm fortunate to have a bitch like Redeem Our Cash because she is extremely sound, she always pulls up well after a race.''

Ritza Donna missed a midweek race when she was drawn to compete in Wednesday night's washed out Wentworth Park fixture but trainer Mark Gatt won't be using that as an excuse if she is beaten in Saturday night's Free-For-All, 520m.

"Missing Wednesday's run won't affect Ritza Donna's chances at all because she is already extremely fit,'' Gatt said.

"And in any case, with all this rain every trainer is in the same boat.

"I'm happy seeing Ritza Donna in box one because that is her best draw.

"She has won one from three races out of the rails alley but when she finished second on the other two occasions she was up against particularly hot lineups.

"Having said that Saturday night's race is also very strong and that is why against this class I would rather have her in box one than anywhere else.''

Ritza Donna's two defeats from box one were meritorious performances as she finished second to Fernando's Glory at Wentworth Park in November and chased home Zipping Alabama, who toppled Zipping Kyrgios at Gosford on Tuesday, in December at WP.

Gatt's greyhound came from behind Wow to beat the champion sprinter at Wentworth Park last Saturday and takes on Danielle Matic's top notcher again on Saturday, with Wow likely to give Gatt's greyhound plenty of room early after drawing box two.

Devil Dodger has not raced this year but trainer Tanya Nieuwendyk considers her greyhound ready to run a boldly first-up in Saturday night's NSW GBOTA Welcome Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

When he led throughout at his Wentworth Park debut on Boxing Night Devil Dodger clocked a nippy 30.17 after reeling off smart sectional times of 5.47 and 13.97.

"Devil Dodger suffered a minor injury after that race so I gave him a break,'' Nieuwendyk said.

"But he must have enjoyed his little rest because he is going really well again.''

Sunburnt Highway, just five months away from turning six, will be chasing his 38th Wentworth Park win in 104 starts when he tackles Saturday night's Ladbrokes Easy Form Masters Stakes, 520m.

Sunburnt Highway's trainer Judith Richardson is no fan of box eight for her dog at Wentworth Park but he has won six of 25 appearances from the outside trap.

When he drew box eight at Wentworth Park on January 8 Sunburnt Highway ran down Ritza Coen in 30.16 while he clocked 30.00 after overhauling Zipping Brady while wearing the pink vest at headquarters on February 12.
