Ruth King Primed For Win

By Peter Davis
The metrics around Asiram’s heat win in the Sportsbet With Mates series at Dapto on November 18 are commanding.

The Ruth King-prepared son of Fernando Bale produced a career best 29.86 win from box one last time and he’s again been gifted the inside alley in Thursday’s Grade Five Final.

Aside from registering the fastest time of the two heats, Asiram’s time held up as the best of the night and his first section of 5.40 (being from box-rise to the winning post the first time) was marginally better than Zambora Tan’s 5.45 in the following event.

In nine Dapto outings, Asiram has not missed a place and he’s improved 'on the clock’ in each of three wins.

While well-positioned and boasting imposing credentials, Asiram will be afforded no mistakes with Cowgirl Ethics (box two), Springview Noah (four) and Wicked Fury (eight) in the mix.

The sparingly raced Cowgirl Ethics – a winner at Wentworth Park on October 30 in a smart 29.84 – has always shown above average ability.

She was cut out soon after the start from box four and finished 13 lengths away when third to Asiram seven days back. Box two is a more suitable grid position this time and she can show high speed.

Springview Noah was new to the Showgrounds circuit when closing late to be beaten only three quarters-of-a-length by Wicked Assassin in 30.00 and has genuine upside.

Like Asriam, Wicked Fury posted a career best mark last time - his third at the track and a two lengths improvement on an all-the-way offering in late July.

Wicked Fury is a litter brother to the smart Wicked Spartan which contests Dapto’s GRNSW Middle Distance Series heat (Race Six).

A winner the track in a near record 34.19, Wicked Spartan must contend with the awkward five alley yet certainly has the quality to snare the $5000 winner’s cheque.

The first of 10 races at Dapto gets underway at 7.13pm.
