Tarawis Ready To Show Their Best

By Jeff Collerson
Miss Foxy Lee was an outstanding bitch who won 22 races for owner Lorraine Atchison and Tarawi Ted and Tarawi Chrissy, from the greyhound's mating with Dyna Double One, are expected to display plenty of their mother's ability at Dapto on Saturday night.

Tarawi Ted, trained for Atchison by David Smith, has box two in the Ryan's Cleaning Service Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, while the Atchison owned and bred Tarawi Chrissy, trained by Alan Proctor, will exit box four in another 520m fifth grade, the Sportsbet Same Race Multi Stakes.

Tarawi Ted made his debut at Dapto in June, finishing second in a slick 30sec and has since registered an all the way win at WP before being placed at headquarters and finishing second at Bulli.

He looks well positioned as Jen's Jet, box one, is a mediocre beginner and when he won at WP Tarawi Ted jumped smartly from box four and was never threatened.

Tarawi Chrissy, who has had three wins and a second from four starts, has not raced at Dapto but trialled well there on Monday.

"I gave her a box-to-box hit-out and she clocked 5.45 and 17.30, which on the day were good times,'' Alan Proctor said.

"Tarawi Chrissy should win as long as she gets around the first turn safely.

"She led virtually all the way when she won at her most recent start, at Gosford on August 12, but she doesn't have to lead to win because she is strong at the finish.''

Gold Azalea has not raced for nine months but is working well enough to take out Saturday night's Sportsbet Bet With Mates Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

The Andrew Mulrine-trained Gold Azalea has won at Dapto and clocked a fast 29.96 when she was beaten in a photo finish by the highly regarded Serious Object there on November 26.

The trainer's son Patrick Mulrine said: "Gold Azalea's next run was in a stewards' trial at Dapto on December 3 and despite injuring a stopper bone during the run she still recorded 30.27.

"When she recovered she had another stewards' trial and clocked a flying 29.76, but after that she came in season.

"That's why she has done so little racing but she is trialling well again and if she leads going through the catching pen we think she will win.''

Zulu Warlord (pictured), already a qualifier for next year's postponed 2021 Million Dollar Chase semi-finals, will be chasing his first Dapto win when he leaves box six in Saturday's Dapto Citizens Bowling Club Stakes, a top grade 520m event.

"He had a trial and an unplaced run at Dapto early in his career,'' trainer Mick Hardman said.

"Zulu Warlord pulled up well after his National Sprint win at Bathurst on August 9 but he can't afford to put a foot wrong on Saturday night.

"He likes to lead in his races and he might be hard pressed beating On The Rocks, who has box two and who goes real good, to the first turn.

"Analysing, who is well drawn in box eight in Saturday's Sportsbet Same Race Multi Stakes, was really impressive winning for me at Bathurst on Monday but the problem is she has never seen the Dapto track.''
