History Repeats For Trifecta Tyler

By Jeff Collerson
Trainer Robbie Tyler turned the clock back nearly three years at Maitland on Monday when Zipping Lockett's head win over Preston Lee and Unlawful Assault gave him a winning trifecta.

On April 17, 2018, Tyler had landed a trifecta at Maitland with Zipping Clare, Zipping Luke and Sheyna.

While Ritza Daniel's win later on Monday's card also gave Tyler a double for the meeting, his red letter day fell two wins short of that April fixture when he followed his trifecta success with another three winners, Sashay, Modus Operandi and Little Juzzy.

Tyler, who has Crazy Cool in Friday night's group 2 Richmond Oaks final, has always had a high opinion of Zipping Lockett, a litter brother to John Finn's super sprinter Zipping Kyrgios.

"Previously Zipping Lockett has brought himself undone by being stupid and taking the wrong options in his races, but he got a lovely run up along the fence at Maitland when his kennelmate Unlawful Assault, who was in front of him early, ran up the track,'' Tyler said.

Sydney fan favourite Ebby Ripper is a mother.

Michael Eberand's wonderful staying bitch, who retired in December, 2019, has produced eight puppies to Ritza Lenny.

Ebby Ripper won in a nippy 42.26 over 720m at Wentworth Park on December 6, 2019, but connections "pulled the pin'' after she finished fourth there later that month.

Ebby Ripper had 130 starts for 32 wins and 52 placings, earning over $316,000.

"Three of her puppies are blue, just like their father Ritza Lenny,'' Eberand said.

It's A Blaze, a NSW-bred litter brother to Friday night's Richmond Derby finalist It's A Rush, has run near track record time in only his second NEW ZEALAND appearance, clocking 29.64 over 520m at Addington on Friday.

Formerly with Kel Greenough in Victoria, It's A Blaze, now with Dave Fahey, won by 18 lengths in 29.64, just outside the 29.59 posted by ex-Queenslander Bago Bye Bye in October, 2018.

It's A Blaze won three of his five starts in Australia, but could manage only fifth at his sole Sydney appearance at Wentworth Park in July last year.
