Leading trainer Jodie Lord had a day out at the southern highlands venue of Goulburn yesterday preparing 4 of the 10 winners’ but it was a Maiden chaser who had greyhounds fans talking.

Lord’s winners were Rapallo (19.88); Spookie Vision (19.66); Ritza Donald 24.64) and Winlock Shifty (24.70) but the Mick Hardman prepared Khatanga Bay opened the card with a blistering 24.62 victory scoring by more than 8 lengths.

Hardman has been on Fire in recent months with a number of his team being purchased from leading Cudal breeder Dennis Barnes, and the son of Barcia Bale was having just his second start for the kennel as he sizzled over the 440m trip.

The FFA race at Richmond lived up to its expectations of being a quality affair with Bit Flash leading in the early stages but it was the Mark Moroney prepared Fire On Ice who proved too strong in the run home to defeat Roused and the early pacemaker in 30.65.

Fire on Ice (Fernando Bale x Tickaway Fire) is just 25 months of age and has been a consistent chaser throughout her 36-start career, saluting on 12 occasions while also racking up another 15 minors with her prizemoney now standing at an even $35,000.

The Dubbo meeting saw a number of trainers prepare multiple winners, but it was the husband and wife team of Paul and Pamela Braddon who took home the bulk of the prizemoney from Dawson Park with 4 of the 12 winners.

Rod McDonald prepared a treble while FORBES trainer, Errol Hughes, took out the first two events on the card with the littermate’s Blackfoot Angel and Hammer Foot who are by the former top-class sprinter, Brad Hill Billy.

The meeting at LADBROKES GARDENS threw up a number of upsets with the former Victorian, Slingshot Hammer, a near certainty beaten in Race 1 as a $1.80 favourite which was eventually taken out by Knight’s Page.

Time honours over the 272m dash went to the John Miles trained Lately who clocked a sizzling 15.47 while Luchador continued his recent good form for James Porter with a best-of-day 22.77 win.
