Major benefits as Cowra and Temora join forces

Greyhound Racing NSW in conjunction with the Cowra GRC and the NSW GBOTA Temora club, are pleased to advise that all parties in recent times have worked together to increase better racing and prizemoney outcomes for participants in the region.

As a result of the work, we can announce that NON TAB race meetings scheduled for Cowra, will now be conducted as TAB race meetings at Temora. The Cowra club will still hold its traditional carnival in June.

GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Mr Tony Mestrov congratulated both the Cowra and Temora clubs on working in harmony for the betterment of participants and industry.

“The increased prizemoney levels and opportunities are again testament to supporting greyhound racing in regional NSW,” he said. “This merger is the first of its kind for NON TAB race clubs and provides a pathway for other NON TAB clubs and GRNSW to work together to ensure sustainable outcomes.”

Cowra President Mr Peter McDonald, who pioneered the approach, was extremely positive about the final outcome.

“It just makes sense in the current climate of greyhound racing that clubs work together for better outcomes for industry,” Mr McDonald said. “The Cowra club will still play an important part in the industry by providing its facilities to trial greyhounds and run its historical carnival in June.”

NSW GBOTA Chief Executive Officer Mr Steve Noyce congratulated the forward thinking of all parties to maintain and establish further TAB racing opportunities in the region.

”Participants in the region will be excited by this initiative on behalf of the Cowra and Temora race clubs,” Mr Noyce said. “I look forward to the first race meeting being conducted under this relationship on 26th January, 2020.”
