The time-honoured Dapto Silver Collar, which now has Sportsbet as its naming rights sponsor, has a long tradition dating back to 1963, when Miss Warcroft took out the 555 yard event and the 60 pounds prizemoney which went with the trophy, beating dead-heaters Pretty Again and Royal Bandit.

Over the y,ears it has been won by some smart greyhounds, none better than 1968 winner, the legendary Zoom Top.

In 2021, the super consistent Ebby Infrared led throughout to take out the Silver Collar from a quality field, the win his 35th of his 89 start career, which has also seen another 33 placings.

In 2022 Rodney O'Brien's He's Grand was racing in good form at various tracks before coming to Dapto to make his local debut in the final of the Silver Collar and what a debut it was.

Meeting the likes of Group 1 winners Bandit Ned and Ritza Donna who took out the Dapto Megastar six months earlier, as well as Coast Model who was second to She's A Pearl in the Million Dollar Chase Final a month before, most thought He's Grand would have his work cut out, but spearing to the lead from Box 2 he was never threatened and raced away to a dominant 5 and 3/4 length win.

The race wasn't run in 2023 but returned in 2024 with Omega Travis claiming the spoils for the Lord kennel.

The race included some handy types with Goulburn Cup winner Quantifiable running second and Cawbourne Apollo finishing third. August Bob, Trunkey Chief and Bailey Bear were also hard in the market in the lead up to the feature but it was Omega Travis who surged to the front and powered away for a comfortanle 2.75 length win.

The time of 29.50 a massive track and trip PB for the son of Fernando Bale x Omega Brittany.
