Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic (G1)

Wentworth Park Saturday Preview

By Jeff Collerson
No Donuts and Awesome Project won 56 races and over $681,000 for owner Brad Canty but he has always maintained his latest acquisition Rinsed The Lot is faster.

On Saturday night in heat four of the group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic, Rinsed The Lot, unbeaten in four races, all at Maitland, makes his keenly anticipated Wentworth Park debut for trainer Michelle Sultana.

Canty heads the syndicate which races Rinsed The Lot, whose other part-owners include prolific group 1 winning jockey Brenton Avdulla.

Rinsed The Lot has box two on Saturday night and Canty is happy with the draw.

"He will run straight when he leaves the boxes,'' Canty said.

"Unfortunately his preparation has been interrupted because after easily beating his kennelmate Fernando Rocker, who has won eight races and broken 30sec at Wentworth Park, in a trial at Appin, he cut his foot.

"Rinsed The Lot has not raced since May but has since trialled very fast at Wentworth Park, clocking 23.95 in a post-to-post slip.

"Because of the foot cut Rinsed The Lot has had 10 days off but we are confident he will run a big race.''

Flash Boom Bang, who has clocked a sizzling 29.44 at Wentworth Park, will be all the rage for heat one of the Vic Peters after drawing box one.

Flash Boom Bang has a perfect draw but trainer Jack Smith is cautious, saying: "He has a big motor but he has to learn to race better in a field and not keep running into his rivals.

"He certainly gets his chance from this draw but after the Classic series I will probably step him up in distance.''

The Vic Sultana-trained Foreign Capital ran a slashing trial for heat three of the Vic Peters with a blistering 26sec 472m win at Bulli on Tuesday.

Foreign Capital has clocked 29.75 at Wentworth Park and while he has had two wins and a placing from three starts out of box seven, his draw on Saturday, part-owner Gordon Sciberras would prefer him positioned on the rails.

"He has learned to handle an outside box but would be better suited on the fence,'' Sciberras said.

"Foreign Capital had box two at Bulli on Tuesday and had box three when he won in 29.75 at Wenty but otherwise he keeps drawing out wide.''

Dubbo trainer Charmaine Roberts is enjoying the best run of her career and while her kennel stars will be contesting Saturday night's heats of the group 1 Ladbrokes Peter Mosman Opal, she has a chance with Zeus Keeping, who clashes with Foreign Capital in heat three of the Vic Peters.

Roberts' partner Shayne Stiff said: "Zeus Keeping got pole-axed two runs back at Temora so we were very happy with his third to Toodles Jack at Wentworth Park last Saturday.

"He has box two this week and that suits him.''

Roberts and Stiff's wonderful trio of litter sisters Cindy Keeping, Candice Keeping and Camilla Keeping, will contest heats one, two and three of the Peter Mosman Opal.

Cindy Keeping, who won in 29.45 at Wentworth Park last Saturday, has box three, with Candice Keeping in one and Camilla Keeping in two.

Shayne Stiff said: "Candice Keeping has the best draw but while Cindy Keeping in boxed okay I would prefer her being out slightly further, maybe in box five.

"Camilla Keeping has not raced since June 9 so could be short of a run.''

Au Contraire, who has drawn box one against Camilla Keeping, should get the run of the race and appeals as the night's best bet.

Palawa King's trainer Jack Smith, who has Flash Boom Bang in the Vic Peters, has a big opinion of Lorraine Jacky, who has box six in heat two of the Peter Mosman.

Lorraine Jacky was a close second to Toodles Jack at Wentworth Park last Saturday and Smith said: "If she had gone around the winner when she was trailing him on the back straight I think she might have won.

"But she kept trying to get underneath him and couldn't do so.

"She is in a tough race on Saturday though with Peter Lagogiane's unbeaten youngster Depeche in box eight.''

The in-form Smith kennel, from Forbes, could also land the second Ladbrokes Vic Peters heat with Irinka Benji.

This is arguably the weakest heat and with Ruination, a "screaming" wide runner in box one, it could be roughly run.

Irinka Benji showed good track sense when he threaded his way through the field to win at Wentworth Park Wentworth Park in 29.77 from box five on June 15.

He has drawn seven on Saturday and won from this box at Temora on April 10.
