Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic (G1)

Big Rap For Rising Rinsed

By Simon Orchard
Darryl Thomas and Michelle Sultana could have the fastest greyhound in NSW in their kennel at the moment…and I’m not talking about Golden Easter Egg winner Mackenna.

Rinsed The Lot is undefeated through four race starts, albeit against maiden and fifth grade opposition, but with the picket fence growing longer with each appearance, the kennel has high hopes for the rising star ahead of Saturday night’s heats of the Group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic.

“He’s got a very big motor and he’s the best dog we’ve ever had on raw ability,” Thomas said.

“He’s the fastest dog we’ve had too but he still needs to mature into a real race dog. He won the Future Stars at Maitland, then he trialled 22.30 at Richmond over the 400m and we were thinking “Wow, where are we going to end up with this bloke?”.

“Then he hurt a back muscle and spent nearly six months off the race track. He’s still probably three months behind where we’d like him to be but he’s pretty exciting and I think we’ll see an even better dog in three months time.”

Rinsed The Lot burst onto the scene in a Maitland Future Stars final romp last December.

The blue brindle son of Barcia Bale x Mrs. Mouse storming to the front early before putting six lengths on a chasing pack that included recent Group 3 Ambrosoli finalist, Angel Shirley.

He’s since won twice more at Maitland in 22.05 (400m) and 24.83 (450m), with the lure of age-restricted feature racing in NSW trumping a potential WINTER carnival trip to Queensland with Sultana and Thomas.

“He’s still only a baby [two in May] so we didn’t want to throw him in the deep end and bring him up to QLD where all the really good ones are at the moment,” Thomas added.

“He’s been prepared at Wenty Park for the last month with my Mum, Darrallene. She’s holding the fort while we’re up here racing in QLD and she’s got him good as gold and ready to go. He’s already been backed [$4.40 to $3] but this is a very hard race and a big step up for him.”

“History’s Coming has won a National Derby and was taking on the Flying Amy dogs recently. He’s had 20 odd starts and our bloke has had four. Tommy Rees isn’t afraid to say History’s Coming is one of the fastest dogs in NSW and I tend to agree with him when he gets it right. And Barrys dog [Boston Banner] goes very nicely and is well boxed as well.”

Rinsed The Lot is a half-brother to Fernando Hunter - the 2023 Masters Meteor winner – with both dogs owned by gun hoop Brenton Avdulla and Brad Canty among others.

Brad Canty bred the dog and he’s been very loyal to us,” Thomas said.

“He’s a very good form student and has a major opinion of this dog. The litter is going very good as well. Cherry Rose could be anything after a few starts and Hush Hush is a seven-time winner. Brad also held onto Stunning Mouse who goes good.”

“I haven’t seen him this excited about a dog for a while. He was always excited about Fernando Hunter but I haven’t seen him this pumped up since we had a dog called No Doughnuts.”

The 2024 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic heats will be held this Saturday, June 29 at Wentworth Park.

The $75,000-to-the-winner final will be run on June 6.
