Jeff Collerson's Wentworth Park Saturday Preview

By Jeff Collerson
Linkin Girl had box one when she clocked near record time over 600m Dapto at her most recent start but trainer Lakis Michael is happy seeing her drawn wide in a 720m race at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Linkin Girl has box six in the Ladbroke It! Stakes, for zero to four win greyhounds, and Michael said: "I think she is well suited out there because she uses a bit of the track.

"She just keeps improving all the time.

"When Linkin Girl won over 720m at Wentworth Park recently she had box four while at her last race there when she finished second to What Can Do she made it too hard for herself to get into a good position early.

"By the time she got there the winner was off and gone and What Can Do proved too good.''

At Dapto on June 13 Linkin Girl won by nearly five lengths from the highly regarded Trunkey Shearer, covering the 600m in 34.38.

Those figures compare well with the track record of 33.99 set by Bandit Jane in November, 2022.

Siska Lucy is untried beyond 520m but trainer Greg Hore did not hesitate nominating her for Saturday night's other zero to four wins 720m event, the Ladbrokes Sports Bar Stakes, following her win at Nowra last Monday.

Despite being last to leave the boxes, Siska Lucy was third on the back straight and after hitting the front soon after, careered away to win over 520m by 10 lengths.

Her time of 29.82 was the fastest of the night but it was her run home time which most impressed her trainer.

Greg Hore said: "Siska Lucy ran home in 12.58 and that is low flying.

"From day one she told me she would be a stayer and because she has always had terrible box manners sprinting was never going to be her go.

"Siska Lucy is a good railer so box eight on Saturday is not ideal but she had that draw when she won at Nowra on Monday so I'm hoping she can get a cart across to the fence.''

Crack trainer Jack Smith is keen on the chances of Red Hot Frankie in Saturday night's Wenty Thursdays From July 4 Stakes, 520m.

"Red Hot Frankie won a Free-For-All at Wenty two starts back and drops to fifth grade on Saturday night,'' Smith said.

Smith also has strong prospects with Lorraine Jacky, who has box four in the GBOTA Welcome Stakes and with Talk About Class (box one) and Flash Boom Bang (box six) who clash in the Ladbrokes Communities Stakes.

After being unbeaten in her first four starts, including a flying 29.65 Wentworth Park victory on June 7, Lorraine Jacky finished fourth to Toodles Jack in 29.87 last Saturday.

"She missed the kick from out wide last week but I thought she ran a nice race to finish as close as she did,'' Smith said.

"I just hope she gets the start right this week.

"Talk About Class is well boxed while Flash Boom Bang usually comes out slow but comes home powerfully once he finds the fence.''

Jackknifed won in 29.92 at Wentworth Park last week and is clearly the fastest dog in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

But trainer Alan Proctor said: "I'll be closing my eyes at the first turn because Jackknifed will want to get off the track.

"I'm hoping the dogs on his outside can hold him in near the fence.

"He surprised me when he won in 29.92 last week because that was much quicker than the time he had recorded in a previous trial there.''
