Muswellbrook Cup Announcement

By GRNSW
Greyhound Racing NSW have today made the difficult decision to postpone the 2023 Muswellbrook Cup.

Heats of the Cup were scheduled for December 10 with the $25,000 final the following Sunday, but after extensive renovations this month on the Muswellbrook track, and following careful consideration, GRNSW has decided it would be best for participants and the event, if the Cup was postponed until a date to be determined early next year.

The track team at Muswellbrook had been striving to bring the turf circuit up to a pristine standard for the Cup, but time has been their enemy.

After consultation with that team, it was felt that the track would not be ready to race at its optimum by the meeting schedule for December 6, a race card which was expected to attract several Cup runners wanting to trial at the venue before the Cup heats, and as such the best decision was to postpone the event.

While disappointing for the club and participants, GRNSW can assure everyone that the meeting will not be lost and when it is run, and it will be the biggest racing event to be held at the new Muswellbrook venue, which was opened in April this year.

Muswellbrook will resume racing on December 17, and while the Cup Final won’t be on that program, GRNSW have programmed a $5,000 Christmas Cup over the 431m, and a $7,200 Middle Distance event over the 571m.

The race meeting on December 6 has been moved to Ladbrokes Gardens, while the meeting on December 10 will be moved to a date to be decided, and will not be lost the Upper Hunter region.
