Siblings Looking Good At Richmond

By Jeff Collerson
A sub-30sec trial featuring a dazzling opening split of 5.39 at Wentworth Park last Saturday night makes MISS SKY Wave look a great value bet at Richmond on Wednesday.

The Vic Sultana-trained bitch has box one in the Ladbrokes Hub Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, and although she has not raced at Richmond she is trained on the track.

And MISS SKY Wave is unbeaten in two starts wearing the red rug, winning in sizzling times of 22.21 and 22.37 over 400m at Bulli, each in the fastest figures of the meeting.

Last Saturday MISS SKY Wave drew box three in a 520m Wentworth Park trial and exploded to the lead to record early splits of 5.39 and 13.93 before running home in a handy 11.89, posting a slick 29.98 for the 520m trip.

MISS SKY Wave is owned by Vincent Sun, who raced her dam Sky Wave.

"Sky Wave won 25 of her 49 races and was the first really good greyhound I owned,'' Sun said.

"Her litter of pups by Barcia Bale are going great too, with MISS SKY Wave winning five of 10 races so far.''

Sun also has MISS SKY Wave's quicker litter brother Bolt Wave in box one in Wednesday's Steeline Riverstone Stakes, another 520m fifth grade.

Bolt Wave has not previously drawn box one but he won from box two in a blistering 29.57 over 520m at Wentworth Park in September, leading all the way for a 10 lengths' winning romp.

Bolt Wave faces tougher opposition than MISS SKY Wave but on his Wentworth Park form he should only need to step away cleanly to also lead throughout.

Lady Exit was fastest qualifier from box six for Wednesday night's GRNSW 1-4 Wins 622m Final and has the same draw this week.

Lady Exit came from behind to win her heat in 35.84 while the Ruth King-trained Lochinvar Pearl led throughout to win the other heat from box one in 35.96.

But while Lochinvar Pearl received plenty of room to move from wide-running Mount Tate, who had box two in her heat, that greyhound has drawn one in the final and could be a major "hang-up" for King's bitch.

Lady Exit's trainer Simon Ma said: "I would have preferred my bitch to be drawn closer to the rails in the final but she should still be hard to beat.

"Before last week I had been racing her over 600m at The Gardens and 603m at Gosford but she is better suited over the extra 20m at Richmond because she is very strong.

"I am keen to get her back into 720m races at Wentworth Park but finding a race for her is the problem.

"I gave Lady Exit a thorough grounding at Richmond before last week's heats, she had a short hand-slip and then a box-to-box trial so she certainly knows her way around the track now.''

Ziggy Stardust raced over 535m on the old Richmond track but will be tackling 520m on the new circuit in Wednesday's Visit wickracing.com Masters Stakes.

Ziggy Stardust has box two and trainer Adam Campton said: "It looks a pretty even field but Ziggy Stardust is well boxed.

"I like him drawn near the rails at Richmond, especially in a small field, and he should go well as long as they don't cut across him in the early stages.

"It seems to be fairly hard to make up a lot of ground when you get back in the field on the new track.''

Ziggy Stardust has been a handy campaigner, winning 14 races and filling 32 placings for over $92,000 prizemoney.
