Youngsters In For A Big Friday Night At Wenty

By Jeff Collerson
Silent Accord, fastest qualifier for the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase Maiden final and Bandit Bluey, who won a Million Dollar Chase heat at her Wentworth Park debut, are tipped to make successful returns to headquarters on Friday night.

Silent Accord, trained by Subawa Ngurah, has box one in the Farrell's 4X2 Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, while the Jodie Lord-trained Bandit Bluey has box five in the Ladbrokes Communities Stakes, another 520m grade five event.

Jodie Lord surprised by launching Bandit Bluey's Wentworth Park career in such exalted company as a Million Dollar Chase qualifier after she had contested just four races at Goulburn and Dapto.

But Bandit Bluey justified her trainer's gamble by taking the lead at the first turn and defeating Melbourne Cup winner Yachi Bale by a half head in 29.86.

Bandit Bluey's Million Dollar Chase bid ended on October 6 when she finished down the course in a semi-final won by the greyhound she had conquered in her heat.

Trainer Jodie Lord's husband Andy said: "We put Bandit Bluey into the Million Dollar Chase because she trialled brilliantly at Wentworth Park.

"She clocked 29.60 and posted very quick sectional times so after a trial like that she deserved a crack at the big race.''

Bandit Bluey drops sharply in class on Friday, although her opposition includes the Jason Magri-trained Zipping Teresa, who took out the Young Star Classic Consolation final on October 13 in 29.86.

Silent Accord had been placed twice over 440m at Goulburn before making his first Wentworth Park appearance in a heat of the MDC Maiden series on October 4.

Silent Accord jumped from box four and led throughout, winning by seven lengths in 29.76, .18sec faster than the next quickest heat winner.

In the October 13 final Silent Accord was a luckless fourth after missing the start from box three and colliding immediately with the greyhound drawn in box two.

But while Silent Accord had been beaten twice at Goulburn leading up to his Wentworth Park debut, his slick 29.76 heat winning time did not surprise trainer Subawa Ngurah.

"I knew he could run because in a trial I gave him over 520m at Dapto, Silent Accord had clocked 29.48,'' Ngurah said.

"He is a fast dog but he is still learning to run in fields.

"But I'm happy seeing him in box one on Friday, I'll never complain about one of my dogs drawing the rails.''

Andy Lord also has Purring Along, a dual Wentworth Park winner, back at headquarters after a break of more than three months in the Sponsor A Race Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Purring Along won over 330m at Temora on September 18 and Lord said: "She is going pretty well.

"But Purring Along is no world-beater, just a good, honest handy little bitch.''

Purring Along will be assisted by having box one as she has won two of her four outings wearing the red rug.

But her best Wentworth Park time is 29.96 while her arch rival the Daniel Gatt-trained Blue Goose Boy, although awkwardly drawn in box five, has clocked 29.67 at the track.

Friday night's particularly strong card also features the reappearance of boom youngster Zipping Megatron, whose 29.42 all-the-way win in last week's Ladbrokes MDC Maiden Final was .34sec quicker than Jay Is Jay took to land the $1 million feature race.

Zipping Megatron had box one last Friday and will exit box three in Friday night's Ladbrokes Hub Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

But while Zipping Megatron is suited drawn near the fence, he will need to avoid Jett Khan, who tends to shift wide and who has box two.

Several promising fifth graders line up in the 520m Ladbrokes Odds Surge Stakes but Jake Peralta, a new addition to trainer Michael Clayton's kennels, should only need to repeat his September 23 trial at WP to be hard to beat.

In that hit-out, his first since coming to NSW from Victoria, Jake Peralta led all the way from box one and posted early splits of 5.53 and 13.92 before defeating Cartel Model, a winner of seven from 24 races, in a nippy 29.92.
