Zipping Osti To Bring Richmond Form To Town

By Jeff Collerson
Zipping Osti has won just three of 15 Wentworth Park starts but only has to bring his outstanding Richmond form to headquarters to win Saturday night's Congratulations Palawa King Stakes.

Zipping Osti has box six but has an empty box on his left and is likely to relish the small field of seven in the 520m fifth grade.

Trainer Jason Magri said: "Zipping Osti loves Richmond, he goes like a rocket there, but he fiddles around a bit at Wenty.

"This does look like the weakest field he has met in town in a fair while and he could have this race run to suit.

"The dogs in boxes one, two, and three have good early pace and are front runners so if Zipping Osti is stalking them approaching the home turn he should be able to win.''

Copious had no luck when second to "lid pinger" Remember This at Wentworth Park last Saturday night and trainer Justin King believes the dog can go one better in Saturday's Equalizer @ Sires On Ice Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

"He has box six, but I like Copious in the middle boxes, his best runs have been from those draws,'' King said.

"With Miss Expeditious, a wide runner drawn outside him in seven, he should get his chance.

"Before last week's Wentworth Park race, Copious trialled 29.90 at Dapto and I thought he was a bit stiff last Saturday.''

Copious looks well placed in this low grade race as he is a winner of five races at Wentworth Park.

Forever Spirit rattled home from fourth at the half-way mark to win over 603m at Gosford on Tuesday and should only need a clear run to go close to taking out Saturday night's Ladbrokes Hub Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Before the Gosford win Forever Spirit had jumped in front from box one at Wentworth Park last Saturday, then dropped back to midfield before finishing fast to be second, two lengths behind the speedy Nacho Queen.

Trainer John Callaughan said: "That is how Forever Spirit races.

"She is a liable beginner but has no pace at all in the run to the first turn.

"But she is nice and strong so her chances depend on her getting a clear run through the field.''

There wasn't a more unlucky beaten runner at Wentworth Park last week than Loma, who will strive to atone in Saturday night's Wynne & Co Mowing Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Loma drew box four but lost all chance at the start when a dog drawn on his left veered out and collided with him.

After being last going through the catching pen Loma was still back in fifth position approaching the home turn but finished resolutely to go under by just over two lengths behind King Of Tulsa.

He has box eight on Saturday and has shown his liking for a wide draw by being placed at each of two starts wearing the pink rug.

An inside box two draw could enable Esme Watson to upstage her litter brother and kennelmate Snowman in Saturday night's third and fourth grade race, the feature 520m event on the card.

Esme Watson drops in grade on Saturday after coming from last at the first turn when third to Embrace and Fascinate Mel in a Wentworth Park Free-For-All last week.
