Coonamble Program Released

The countdown to the hugely popular Coonamble long weekend carnival is now well and truly on with the release of the racing program for the four-day extravaganza.

And along with what will be a long weekend of frenetic action on the track, this year’s carnival is further boosted by the appearance of rock star Shannon Noll, who will perform following the final event on the Friday night program.

Tickets to attend the Friday night meeting and rock away to Noll will be free, which is sure to see a record crowd in attendance at the famous carnival.

Major sponsor Ladbrokes are once again behind the flagship event, the $15,000-to-the-winner Ladbrokes Gold Maiden (305m), while a host of other sponsors have again pledged their support, ensuring that the sport’s most recognised country greyhound carnival continues to flourish.

“The Coonamble Club is really thankful for the ongoing support of all the sponsors behind the carnival – both old and new,” Coonamble Club President Graham Pickering said.

“It’s there support that allows the carnival to continue to grow and play a huge role in the local Coonamble community.

“We are still a few months away but the team out here continue to work on the track to ensure it’s in pristine condition for when the carnival rolls around. It’s around now trainers begin ramping up their trialling in preparation and I encourage anyone interested in giving me a call.”

This year’s racing program has been designed to ensure there are events and opportunities for dogs of all age, grade and distance.

In a further boost for the carnival, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) have once again pledged their significant support, declaring that all races on the Friday will carry TAB level prize money.

This initiative has been warmly received in recent years and is sure to be hugely popular once again in 2023 to launch the three big days of racing.

The carnival kicks off with afternoon and night programs on Friday, September 29 before two programs on Saturday, September 30 leading into a bumper day of finals action on Monday, October 2.

Other major events include the Garrard’s Horse and Hound Super Maiden (400m), Rambet Cup (305m), GTE Dog Transport Masters (400m), Sandown GRC Coonamble Cup (400m) and Multicam CNC Routers Mixed Final (530m).

But the features don’t stop there, with the carnival bursting with big races carrying top prizemoney.

And for the first time in 2023 the Coonamble Carnival will be supported by the NSW Greyhound, Breeders, Owners & Trainers Association (GBOTA) who have joined forces with the Coonamble Greyhound Racing Club.

The GBOTA have thrown their support behind the club to ensure the ongoing success of Australia’s most famous greyhound racing carnival.

And that success has been built on country racing’s strongest betting ring which will be again in play in 2023 with no less than eight local bookmakers set to be in attendance for the carnival.

If you haven’t locked the dates away yet, now is the time to do so!
