Drop In Class To Suit Wyndra

By Jeff Collerson
Wyndra All Class has registered four second placings and two thirds from her past seven starts - all in top grade - so she is set to be back in the winner's circle after dropping to third and fourth grade company at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

Daniel Gatt's bonny bitch has box five in the 520m Ladbrokes Blended Bets Stakes, and she boasts the impressive record of two wins and two placings from five appearances wearing the yellow rug.

Wyndra All Class, a group one winner, tends to run in the centre of the track and as she has mostly been a good beginner she has a great chance of leading all the way from her middle draw.

Trainer Daniel Gatt said: "In her two Wentworth Park runs since finishing third at Albion Park on June 15 she seems to have been down a bit on confidence.

"She didn't come out as fast as normally and maybe that was due to the different start at Wentworth Park compared to the Brisbane boxes.

"But there is certainly nothing amiss with Wyndra All Class, she is feeling good and is jumping out of her skin.''

Copious has recorded two wins and a second from middle and wide draws at his past three Wentworth Park starts but trainer Justin King is pleased the dog has drawn box one in Wednesday's siresonice.com.au Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

"This is the first time Copious has had box one in 18 races,'' Justin King said.

"When he won from box seven at Wentworth Park last week he used a lot of track sense because he was caught four deep early but was able to find the fence going through the catching pen.

"I certainly far prefer box one to box seven for him.

"Copious was a bit of a problem child early in his career but he has matured nicely and has really hit his straps in the past couple of weeks.

"He looks hard to beat on Wednesday although I have a healthy respect for Especially Rare, who has box six.''

Another greyhound drawn near the rails who should make full use of her inside draw is Rockstar Thelma, who has drawn two in the Ladbrokes Mega Multi Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Rockstar Thelma has been runner up in two of three Wentworth Park outings and has compiled an impressive overall tally of three wins and three seconds from seven appearances.

Trainer Shaun Evans said: "Rockstar Thelma has always been a handy bitch but it seems as soon as I get her right she comes in season, which is why she has been so lightly raced.

"Fingers crossed I can keep her going for a while because she is a good little beginner and is open to improvement.

"I'm rapt she has box two because that means she has fewer rivals to get across in the run to the first turn.''

Rockstar Thelma will be exiting box two for the first time but has won each of her two races from box one, over 520m at Dapto in a smart 30.13 and over the same trip at Nowra on June 26 in a tidy 30.13.

In form trainer Barry Gibbons could quinella Wednesday's Bulli to Wentworth Park Final as he has Neptune Banner and Luai Banner in boxes one and two respectively.

Luai Banner is fastest qualifier after winning his 472m heat at Bulli in 26.41 while Neptune Banner's 26.47 was second fastest time.

Their Wentworth Park form suggests Luai Banner has the edge again, as he won first-up at headquarters in 30.04 on June 21 while Neptune Banner's quickest Wenty time isĀ  30.20.

Palawa Queen, a litter sister to Jack Smith's outstanding stayer Palawa King, should break through for her first Wentworth Park 720m win in Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Sports Bar Open Stakes.

Palawa Queen is not in the same class as her brother but clocked a respectable 42.47 when runner-up behind Zipping Vaneea over 720m at Wentworth Park on June 21.

Hardest for Palawa Queen to beat is likely to be another Andy Lord-trained greyhound Spread The Load, who has won over 720m at Wentworth Park and has a personal best time for that course of 42.52.

Spread The Load lacks Palawa Queen's early zip but did post her sole Wentworth Park win from box eight, her draw on Wednesday night.
