NSW Stars Crossing The Border For Queensland Carnival

Trooper Tears, bred, raised and owned by Michael Ivers on the NSW central coast, has starred in Albion Park trials leading up to Thursday night's heats of the Flying Amy Puppy Classic.

Trooper Tears, who began his career in NSW but is now with Victorian trainer Robert Britton, clocked a slick 29.80 in a hit-out over the 520m Flying Amy course last Sunday.

His litter brother and kennelmate, Trapper Tears, clocked 30.19.

Trainer Rob Britton said: "Trooper Tears has box seven in heat three and he is well drawn out wide.

"His good trial didn't surprise me, he always goes well at his first look at a track.

"On the other hand Trapper Tears, who has box seven in heat five, has always needed a run on a track before producing his best form.

"Having said that, the last thing you want them to do from an outside draw at Albion Park is to miss the kick.''

Michael Ivers added: "Trooper Tears has always been faster than Trapper Tears, and while that dog usually benefits from a look at a track he will need to find a couple of tenths to be competitive on Thursday night.''

Victa Damian, who smashed the race record in his Ladbrokes National Derby win at Wentworth Park early this year, will be a raging hot favourite from box one in heat two of the Flying Amy.

Tony Rasmussen, who trains Victa Damian with wife Lisa, drove 25 hours from their base in SA to trial at Albion Park.

"Victa Damian went super in his trial, and not surprisingly was the quickest of our Flying Amy entries,'' Rasmussen said.

"But we were also very happy with the trial by Victa Alby, whose time was only a length slower than Victa Damian's.''

Victa Alby has box two in heat seven of the Flying Amy, opposing NSW trio Nad Al Sheba, Nangar Larry and Mia She's Fast.

John and Minnie Finn's young "Zipping" stars will go into their heats of the Flying Amy without the benefit of a trial on the tricky Albion Park circuit.

Zipping Rousey (box six, heat three) and Zipping Remus (box two, heat five), missed out when team Finn was told the trial sessions had been fully booked.

Minnie Finn said: "Zipping Sabrina, who has box one in heat two of the 600m Carnival Chance, and Zipping Vanessa, first reserve for heats three and four of that race, will also go into their races without seeing the track.
