In March this year, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) asked for submission regarding the Grading Policy, with the purpose of its release for GRNSW to consult with participants, and enabling all stakeholders to provide feedback before the policy is formally put in place.
GRNSW received more than 40 submissions by the closing time late last month and after discussion GRNSW has made the following amendments to the Draft Grading Policy. GRNSW propose to make these changes, subject to further comment.
· A greyhound will be eligible to win five fifth grade events in class and distance before going up to fourth grade. This is an increase of one additional win.
· All fifth grade series’ finals will be non-penalty when determining a greyhound’s grade.
· A greyhound will be eligible to win two fourth grade events in class and distance before going up to third grade. This is an increase of one additional win.
· For greyhounds to be eligible for Free-For-All events they must have won at least one fourth grade event as well as three division and eight total wins.
· A fifth grade greyhound will only be eligible to compete in a non-advertised fourth/fifth grade event if it has had a minimum of four wins, with one of those wins in that class and distance category.
· Interstate unplaced runs will count regarding dropping back in grade.
· Greyhounds having their first start, or greyhounds having their 2nd start which fell at their first start, have moved up the order of entry.
· A greyhound must have had a minimum of six starts to be eligible for a Pathways event and has not won a provincial or city class event in its last five starts.
The closing date for feedback and submissions is Friday, May 19, after which time a further review will be made before the policy becomes official and an announcement is made.
