Vale John Martin

By GRNSW
John Martin, who trained Glamorous Mink, winner of the Dapto Silver Collar and numerous Wentworth Park winners up to the early 2000s, has passed away aged 85.

Martin, originally from Croydon Park but more recently at Primbee, on the south coast, won at Wentworth Park with Golden Mariah in August, 2001.

But Martin, along with his late brother Darcy, were best known for training a succession of top notch greyhounds bearing the "Mink" suffix.

They trained that breed for West Wyalong owner Ken Ridley and also trained greyhounds for Tony Godden, who now prepares classy pair Trunkey Bill and Trunkey John.

Godden said: "John stopped training about five years ago but up to then had been very successful.

"He was in the sport for several decades.''

GRNSW wishes to extend its sincere condolences to the family and friends of John Martin.
