Vale - Bob Groizard

By Jeff Collerson
Bob Groizard, who trained the top class early 1990s sprinter Sekonda Fox, has died, aged 85.

The Hunter Valley trainer, who passed away on December 21, became involved with greyhounds after attending a gymkhana on the old Berkshire Park after migrating from England in 1970.

His widow Pat said: "We came away from the gymkhana owning what we thought was a puppy, but which was actually a fully grown but tiny greyhound.

"That greyhound was not successful on the racetrack but fuelled our love for the sport.

"Our best dog was Sekonda Fox, winner of 16 races between 1991 and 1994, while more recently we won 13 races between 2014 and 2017 with Time Is Precious, who has become a successful producer.

"In March next year we would have been celebrating our 63rd wedding anniversary.''

Bob Groizard is survived by wife Pat and their sons Andrew, Graham and Robbie, now also a greyhound trainer.

His funeral will be held at 1pm on December 29 at the chapel of C. R. Smyth & Son, 216 Wollombi Road, CESSNOCK.

GRNSW wishes to extend its sincere condolences to Bob Groizard's family and  friends.
