Reflections Looks Good In Two

By Jeff Collerson
Reflections is poised to take her box two record to four wins from four appearances when she steps out in Wednesday night's What No Ocean View Stakes at Wentworth Park.

The Kerry Drynan-trained, owned and bred bitch boasts a marvellous Wentworth Park tally of six wins, four seconds and two thirds from 16 starts and is boxed to lead throughout in Wednesday's third and fourth grade event.

ZIPPING Demand, who has box one, is a renowned slow beginner while Winlock Piper, in three, gets wide so Reflections, usually a quick starter, looks set to lead throughout.

She can even lay claim to being the fastest Wentworth Park competitor in the seven dog lineup, with the 29.72 she posted on October 29 edging out the 29.73 recorded in September by Fat Boy's Charm, who has box seven on Wednesday.

Owner Gordon Sciberras has two greyhounds capable of winning Wednesday night's Wentworth Park Christmas Buffet Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, with Train To Nowhere in box two and Choo Choo Train in seven.

Both are trained by Vic Sultana but while each of his runners is capable of winning, Sciberras said: "Choo Choo Train is far quicker than Train To Nowhere.

"Train To Nowhere could be the early leader but Choo Choo Train is good enough to give him three or four lengths start on the back straight and beat him.

"Train To Nowhere is honest and has trialled 30.20 at Wentworth Park but in his three races there he hasn't been able to lead on his own.

"If he does that on Wednesday he might be able to run 30sec flat but if Choo Choo Train is anywhere near him he will beat him.

"Choo Choo Train has won four races at Wentworth Park and has clocked 29.84 but has had no luck in his past four races there.''

Trainer Steve Lambley describes Toad's Turnpike as "only a plodder" but believes the dog is capable of taking out Wednesday night's Vale Shirley Davidson Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Toad's Turnpike has had a third and a fourth after drawing box eight in each of two Wentworth Park races but Lambley thinks box one could help the dog win this week.

"Last Tuesday week he trialled 30.21 at Wentworth Park with his first splits 5.48 and 14.08 and that might be good enough on Wednesday,'' Lambley said.

"When I first got him he wasn't doing anything at all but Toad's Turnpike is having a dig now and if he comes out with them and gets a clear run to the first turn I think he can win.

"He is desperate for box one.''

Double Baroque made a successful middle distance debut over 600m at Dapto last Thursday night but trainer Daniel Gatt has switched him back to sprinting for Wednesday night's Happy Retirement Tommy Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Double Baroque, who has won twice over the Wentworth Park 520m trip, is the most successful Wenty performer in the lineup and Gatt considers him well suited out in box seven.

"Even though he won I was disappointed with how he went at Dapto so while I will probably put him back over a longer trip later on, for now I will keep him at Wentworth Park in 520m races,'' Gatt said.

"Double Baroque's problem is he hasn't got much early pace but he gets to the line strongly at Wenty and has been feeling really well since his Dapto win a week ago.''
