Fat Boy To Feast On Class Drop

By Jeff Collerson
Fat Boy's Charm made the pace when second to boom puppy Zipping Orlando in the GRNSW Young Star final at Wentworth Park on September 24 and a huge drop in class should put him back into the winner's list there on Satiurday.

The Mark Davidson-trained dog has box one in the Where Else But Wenty? Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Fat Boy's Charm had box three in the much tougher Young Star final and clocked a slick 29.85 in defeat, finishing ahead of subsequent Wentworth Park winners Reflections, Showman Jack and Winlock All Over.

"At his only race since the Young Star Fat Boy's Charm finished sixth to Gatlin in track record time in a heat of the Black Top at LADBROKES GARDENS last week,'' trainer Mark Davidson said.

"That might look disappointing on paper but in finishing seven lengths from the winner Fat Boy's Charm still ran good time of 29.60.

"Box one on Saturday is perfect because he definitely wants an inside alley, and I believe he goes better when he can sit just off the pace.

"There are a couple of front-runners in Saturday's race and that should suit Fat Boy's Charm because he gets to the line more strongly when he doesn't go straight to the front and burn himself out early.''

Presence of wide runner What About That in box two should ensure Fat Boy's Charm gets a clear run to the first corner.

Kitty Keen, minor placegetter in Zipping Kyrgios' Black Top heat last week, returns to Wentworth Park after a long absence in Saturday night's Ladbroke It! Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Kitty Keen has not raced at headquarters since completing a winning hat-trick when she won on March 9, but trainer Allan Syphers is optimistic about her chances in her "comeback" race.

"After she won by 11 lengths at Nowra on March 11 Kitty Keen had a setback and was off the scene for just over three months,'' Syphers said.

"I was happy with her third to Zipping Kyrgios at The Gardens last week because she had never previously seen the track.

"Going into that tough 515m race she had only had a couple of 400m races at Maitland and a post-to-post hand-slip at Gunnedah.

"Kitty Keen is very fast early and I expect her to make the pace meaning they are going to have to catch her.''

That'll Do Neo has finished second and a close fourth in two Wentworth Park races but the former Victorian should break through in Saturday night's @wentworthparkgreyhounds Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

He was a fast finishing fourth, beaten a length, in far tougher company on Wednesday night and on debut at Wentworth Park was a close second, from box two, behind Wiradjuri Jack last Saturday.

Trainer Mick Hardman said: "Before he raced at Wenty That'll Do Neo trialled 30.10 over the 520m there and if he repeats that he should be hard to toss on Saturday.

"That'll Do Neo is a one pace type of greyhound, he never clocks fast sectional times but just keeps grinding away.

"I expect him to win on Saturday, especially as he has box one and is such a good railer.''

Another greyhound set to open his Wentworth Park account on Saturday is the Caitlyn Brewer-trained Nangar Archie, who has box eight in the Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes, a 520m fifth gtade.

Nangar Archie has been placed in his past two Wentworth Park outings and has since notched a hat-trick of wins over 520m at Richmond.

He handled box eight comfortably when he won in 29.88 over 520m there on September 23 and a week later led throughout from box one in a slick 29.71.
