Sacred Stance Chasing Another Interstate Cup

Sacred Stance is on target to annexe his second major interstate straight track event after winning his heat in fast time and drawing box one in Sunday's final of Queensland's Capalaba Cup.

The Michelle Sultana-trained speed machine won his 366m heat last Sunday in 19.60, despite sprawling as he left box two and then having a bumping duel with the dogs drawn in one and three.

Fastest qualifier was Unleash Collinda, trained in Victoria by Jason Thompson, who clocked 19.50 with Tony Brett's Queensland flyer Milligan recording 19.56.

In Sunday's $40,000 to the winner final Unleash Collinda has box five with Milligan in box three.

Trainer Michelle Sultana said: "In his wins in the heat and final of the Healesville Cup and again in last week's Capalaba race Sacred Stance stumbled as he came out and then wanted to drift towards the centre of the track.

"He won his Healesville Cup heat from box two on September 4 and the final from box three a week later.

"Hopefully he will have learned from the experience of those three straight track races and having Milligan in box three could help give Sacred Stance a bit of room.

"Milligan won his heat from box seven and stayed over on that side of the track so he could move that way when the boxes open and help our dog.''

Rothwell Chunk, trained at Kempsey by Nathan Goodwin, gives NSW a second finalist in Queensland's biggest straight track race after finishing second to Unleash Collinda in his heat and drawing box seven on Sunday.

Dual Million Dollar Chase winning trainer Peter Lagogiane will be watching with interest as both Sacred Stance and Unleash Collinda are offspring of his former top sprinter Beast Unleashed, who Lagogiane has always ranked the fastest dog he has trained.

Super Estrella, who broke the Wentworth Park 720m record when she clocked 41.21 on September 3 and smashed the Sydney Cup race record with a 41.58 performance there on September 24 has been ranked Australia's top greyhound for September.

The David Smith-trained bitch was undefeated in three starts last month earning her the prestigious title from Greyhound Clubs of Australia.

"I gave her a week off after the Sydney Cup but she pulled up beautifully and I was hoping to have her in a 720m race at Wentworth Park this Saturday but there was no event available,'' Smith said.

"Super Estrella will now tackle the Topgun Stayers race over 725m at The Meadows, Melbourne, on November 5, and after that the 715m Bold Trease at Sandown and probably the 650m Sale Cup will be her goals.''

The Good Odds Harada Cup is a new fifth grade series to be launched with heats at Wentworth Park on October 22 and the final, worth $13,000 to the winner, a week later.

A bonus for connections of the final winner and runner-up will be donation of straws, courtesy of Good Odds Harada's trainer and studmaster Frank Hurst, from his 2019 TAB Million Dollar Chase winner.
