Becky Likely to Head To Town

By Jeff Collerson
Botox Becky's third win from her past four starts over the Gosford 515m trip on Tuesday night might is likely to force trainer Brett Moore to bring his rising four-year-old to Wentworth Park for the first time.

The consistent Botox Becky has clocked 29.61, 29.77 and 29.69 in her trio of wins but Moore said: "She is likely to be outgraded at Gosford now so I might have to take her to Wenty Park.

"She turns four in late November and I'm looking forward to that because then she will be able to contest masters’ races.

"Although Botox Becky has won 10 races she has had only 39 starts due to a series of mishaps during her career.

"My father Barry raced both Botox Becky's grand-dam and dam but when her mother Senorita Abbi retired from racing he gave her away as a brood bitch.

"Ironically when she had pups to Barcia Bale in November, 2018, dad had to buy back the one which races as Botox Becky.

"Botox Becky is handy without being a star and I'm afraid I was spoiled by Bedazzled Babe, the first greyhound I owned and trained.''

Bedazzled Babe broke The Gardens 272m record at only her third start and was undefeated in her first eight races, winning a double at Wentworth Park.

She was a brilliant front runner who had a dozen wins and six placings from 23 appearances.

"Bedazzled Babe has a 13 month old litter by Fernando Bale which are about to go to the breakers while her second litter, aged four months, are by Mepunga Blazer,'' Moore said.

Mr America, who won the inaugural National Straight Track Championship at Richmond on August 27 and has since smashed the 324m track record there, has broken down and will miss Sunday's heats of the $40,000 Capalaba Cup.

"Since his Championship win and his record run on September 10 I have been setting him for the Cup but he broke down in a trial up the straight and will be out of action for two months,'' a dejected trainer Darren Sultana said.

NSW hopes at Queensland's Capalaba now rest with the Michelle Sultana-trained Sacred Stance, who has not raced since winning Victoria's Healesville Cup final of September 11, along with Kempsey-based Nathan Goodwin's pair Rothwell Chunk and Rothwell Horse.

Goodwin said: "My pair each won well over the Capalaba Cup course of 366m on Wednesday with Rothwell Chunk clocking fastest time of the day so they deserve a crack at this big race.

"Rothwell Chunk, who tips the scales at nearly 34kg, is the quicker of the pair but Rothwell Horse, aptly named because he is nearly 40kg, goes pretty good up the straight too.''

Father Rick won last year's 350m Goulburn Fireball during the annual Cup carnival and this year will step to 450m for heats of the $40,000 Ladbrokes Goulburn Cup on October 14.

Wow won the 2021 Goulburn Cup in 24.22 after clocking 24.24 in his heat win and Father Rick's trainer Ray Webster said: "He was the only dog to run quicker time there than my greyhound last year.

"Father Rick clocked 24.37 over 440m at Goulburn in November and he loves that track.''

Father Rick has won four of 10 Wentworth Park races where he has recorded 29.74 but he relishes the roomy Goulburn circuit.
