FIVE of the nine 520m Wentworth Park winners on Saturday night broke the 30sec barrier but by far the quickest was the Jason Mackay-trained Zipping Maserati who took out the Free-For-All in a blistering 29.58sec.

The scratching of the speedy Analysing, who had drawn box seven, boosted the prospects of Zipping Maserati in box six and resulted in him being heavily backed from $2.50 to $2.10.

The winner of the Million Dollar Chase Consolation at WP on May 7, when he defeated Fernando Hunter in 29.57, Zipping Maserati produced outstanding early splits of 5.40 and 13.76 on Saturday to lift his strike rate to a remarkable 20 wins from 35 starts.

Second fastest time of the night was recorded by Scramjet, who went into her 520m fifth grade with personal best WP figures of 30.10.

Trained by 86-year-old Ron Asquith, Scramjet bounced in front from box two and led throughout in 29.83.

After the race Asquith said: "She was able to break 30sec because she got on the bunny from the word go.

"That made all the difference.''

Also getting under 30sec were Remember This in 29.89, Return Mac (29.90) and Doonan (29.96).

Remember This took her record to an impressive five wins from seven races when she led all the way for trainer Vic Sultana, who prepared the greyhound's dam Sky Wave.

Remember This is from Sky Wave's first litter, whelped in July, 2020, to Fernando Bale.

Sky Wave won 25 of 49 starts for Sultana and Remember This seems to be on her way to compiling an equally smart tally.

After Saturday's race Vic Sultana's son Darren, who handled Remember This, said: "After she won each of her first four starts at Bathurst she trialled 30.01 at Wenty so we weren't surprised how well she went tonight.

"Remember This is only a little thing, just 24kg, but she is a good Chaser with early speed.''

Return Mac, who had been placed in three of four WP outings for his new trainer John Finn, broke through in a 520m fifth grade, leading throughout in 29.90, while Doonan enhanced his Wenty record to nine wins from 20 appearances with 29.96 win in a fourth and fifth grade.

Doonan Chased alternate leaders Black Fox and then Hold Me Up to the home bend before surging powerfully in the straight to score by just over a length.

Doonan's win was some consolation for trainer Jodie Lord, whose crack young stayer Tiger Jack won a 720m event on Saturday night by a big space but missed out on the first prizemoney cheque when stewards declared it a no race.

Training honours for the night were with Return Mac's trainer John Finn, who prepared the first winner, Zipping Wilbur, resulting in a winning double also for owner Marty Hallinan, who also owns Zipping Maserati.
