Proctor Happy With The Wide Draw

By Jeff Collerson
Miss Expeditious returns to Wentworth Park for the first time in nearly five months on Saturday night but trainer Alan Proctor is delighted to see her drawn in box eight in the Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Miss Expeditious' sole Wentworth Park win was from box eight when she won in 30.23 in December and Proctor believes she could be going slightly better now.

She was sent out a long odds-on favourite in a 401m race at Richmond on June 5 and came from second early to win in 22.88.

"She had box one at Richmond and I was worried that if she missed the kick she would want to push wide and would find trouble,'' Alan Proctor said.

"Miss Expeditious began fairly well and although she tried to move wide she managed to find room and got a clear run to go around the early leader and hit the front.

"Although it was only a 401m race her run home time was good and she is starting to go good, certainly as well as she was when she won at Wenty in December.

"I'm pleased to see where she is drawn because she is desperate for box eight.''

Majestic Legend has box eight in race five, a 520m fifth grade, but while his trainer Mark Wilcox would have preferred an inside draw he is not unduly concerned about his speedster's wide draw.

"Wentworth Park being what it is I prefer all my dogs to draw near the rails there,'' Wilcox said.

"But Majestic Legend is usually a good beginner, he normally flies out of the boxes.

"When he finished third, from box seven, at Wentworth Park on June 4, he didn't come out like he generally does so I thought his run was good.

"Before that race he had a post-to-post slip at Wenty but had not been out of the boxes.

"Majestic Legend is a smart dog and if he jumps in front and gets on the bunny I'm confident he can break 30sec, he could even get down to 29.80 on a fast track.''

Majestic Legend, who has won two of his four appearances wearing the pink rug, boasts the outstanding strike rate of 11 wins and 12 placings from 25 starts.

Asiram's trainer Ruth King is pleased with her dog's box two draw in Saturday night's wentworthpark.com.au Stakes but concedes Ritza Donna might be too strong in the run home.

"Asiram is going well and definitely wants an inside alley but Ritza Donna is a class bitch and gets home powerfully.

"Although she has box five the small field will suit her because she is more likely to get a clear run behind my dog.''

Saturday's best bet should be Soul To Squeeze, who looks sure to be the pacemaker from box one in race three, a 520m fifth grade,

Soul To Squeeze is at his best when on the lure but was unable to make the pace from box four when fourth to Yuko Girl at Wentworth Park last Saturday.

That was no surprise considering Yuko Girl jumped in front and reeled off a dazzling first split of 5.37, with Soul To Squeeze coming from third early to be second from the back straight to the home turn.

He faded in the run home but on Saturday has a perfect draw, with slow beginner Smart Fernando in box two and wide runner March Legend in three.
