Eight New Rugs As New Era Begins Today

By GRNSW
An invitation extended to partners across GRNSW’s wagering operators has resulted in a new race rug sponsorship deal being described as the “fastest moving billboards” on four legs.

From today, audiences on tracks and on screens across the country will notice the eight racing rugs that determine the dog’s numbers (from one to eight) will also carry individual sponsorships from wagering companies that opted to be a part of GRNSW’s innovative concept.

Starting with today’s GRNSW meetings at Bathurst, Nowra and Grafton, punters will notice sponsored rugs as follows: (1) Ladbrokes, (2) Zbet, (3) Palmerbet, (4) Sportsbet, (5) Elitebet, (6) TopSport, (7) Neds and (8) BlueBet.

Greyhound handlers will also carry the respective sponsorship names and logos of participating wagering companies on their bibs.

The race rug sponsorships will also be seen and promoted on thedogs.com.au website and in the formguides of media.

“As a part of our commercial growth strategy to deliver more funds for use throughout the industry, we offered wagering operators the opportunity to take individual sponsorships of the eight rugs,” GRNSW’s General Manager Commercial and Marketing Nick Babos said.

“We are pleased to say that the response from wagering operators was very enthusiastic and over the past few months we have run a process that has led to the agreed commercial terms between parties.

“GRNSW is always looking to innovate through its partnerships with wagering operators and to maximise these relationships for the benefit of both the industry and the operator, which is the goal of any good partnership.

“I congratulate and thank those wagering operators that have jumped at the chance and welcome them to a new visual era for greyhound racing in NSW – they surely will be the fastest moving billboards in our sport.

“For GRNSW, this latest commercial sponsorship is on terms that we intend to benefit our industry, its stakeholders and our participants.

“It is innovation like this that has allowed us to grow prizemoney across the board – from big features races to grass roots levels. Just this week we announced the Mega Month of Regional Racing that carries $1million in prizemoney across our heartland clubs.

While the rugs will each carry the name of their respective sponsors, the colours remain the same: (1) Red, (2) Checks, (3) White, (4) Blue, (5) Yellow, (6) Green, (7) Black, and (8) Pink.

The rugs of the reserves, the green and white of the 9 and the red, white and blue of the 10, will remain the same without individual sponsorship.
