Pearl And Cash Go At It Again

By Jeff Collerson
Golden Easter Egg winner She’s A Pearl and runner-up Good Odds Cash meet again at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night ahead of the upcoming Million Dollar Chase semi-finals.

Two weeks ago in the Easter Egg final, Good Odds Cash drew awkwardly in box seven and flashed home when second to She's A Pearl in the Group 1 feature on April 9 and has another tricky draw again on Wednesday.

In Wednesday night’s 520m Free-For-All Good Odds Cash will exit box eight while She's A Pearl looks to have a reasonably good box four draw.

She's A Pearl's trainer Jodie Lord said: "She has box four with an empty box on her outside so I could not ask for anything more than that.''

The pair have both qualified for the Million Dollar Chase Semi-Finals on April 29 at Wentworth Park.

Plunging in class from a group 2 final to a fifth grade and a move from a tricky wide draw to the rails alley should put Good Odds Cash’s kennelmate Good Odds Emma back into the winner's circle on Wednesday night.

The Frank Hurst-trained bitch will wear the red rug in the 520m Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes and stands out as the meeting's best bet.

She has won three of her six starts from box one and went within a length of boom bitch French Martini when second from the inside trap in a heat of the New Sensation at Wentworth Park on March 30.

Good Odds Emma then came from box six to win over 400m at Bulli in a slick 22.41 on April 5 before having no luck when fifth in Devine Empress' New Sensation final on April 9.

In that $40,000 to the winner event Good Odds Emma began fairly well but lost all chance when trapped outside a wide runner and badly hampered approaching and rounding the first turn.

Jodie Lord's boom youngster Tiger Jack will resume from a spell with a suitable box two draw in Wednesday's sixth event, a 520m fifth grade.

Tiger Jack had a win and a third over middle distances before taking a month's break after winning at Dapto on March 17.

"Tiger Jack cut his foot and it took two weeks to get it healed but he is trialling well again and I expect him to go close on Wednesday,'' Lord said.

Lord's maiden greyhound Mexican Bandit, who has been placed in two from three races at Wentworth Park, gets his chance to break through in Wednesday's Ladbroke It! Maiden over 520m.

Mexican Bandit was run down when second from box three at Wentworth Park on April 6 and has box seven on Wednesday.

"He should not have any trouble handling his wide draw but Mexican Bandit is a bit weak at the end of 520m at the moment,'' Lord said.

"Hopefully will get a bit stronger as he matures.''

Lochinvar Lona, a strong finishing second to Castle Warrior in the listed Ultra Sense on April 9, drops in class on Wednesday when he contests race three, a 520m fifth grade.

Lochinvar Lona led throughout at his Wentworth Park debut on April 3, clocking a best time of the night 29.70, before chasing Castle Warrior all the way and taking ground off that dog in the tougher Ultra Sense final.

While Lochinvar Lona had box eight in the Ultra Sense trainer Ruth King is pleased seeing her dog in box two on Wednesday.

"He wants to get to the fence, he loves the rails,'' King said.

"When I first brought him to Wenty I thought he might struggle over the 520m but Lochinvar Lona has surprised me and has kept improving, he now seems to get to the line stronger all the time.''
