Roberts With Top Chances In Final

By Peter Davis
With seven runners engaged in two finals at Dubbo’s Christmas meeting on Saturday, Charmaine Roberts can end the racing year at Dawson Park on a high.

Five of Roberts’ charges are Siblings with three – Lance Keeping, Paul Keeping and Pauline">Pauline Keeping – the key runners in Race Four, a $3000 to-the-winner GRNSW Maiden Final.

The trio are out of Shelley Keeping (by in-demand American sire Superior Panama) and half relations to the likes of Squiggle Keeping (21 wins), Memphis Keeping (12), Payton Keeping (11) while Georgie Keeping and Morton Keeping have both saluted 10 times.

Bragging rights after the December 11 maiden heats rested with Pauline Keeping.

She quickly led from box two and held Paul Keeping at bay to score in 29.76, a clear .42 or just on six lengths quicker than Lance Keeping posted in the first heat conducted one race earlier.

Pauline Keeping moves to box six for the series decider but she’s not a ‘tight’ railer and with little pace stationed to the outside, is the one to beat.

Sibling rivalry is again to the fore in the rich GRNSW Grade Five Final (Race Six) with Jumpy Keeping and Ruby Keeping clashing for the second time.

In their heats, Jumpy Keeping was utterly dominant in a smart 29.55 all-the-way win from box one while Ruby Keeping registered 29.67 from box two.

Seven days earlier, opportunity knocked for Ruby Keeping when she led from box one and defied Jumpy Keeping in 29.77 yet the draw favours the latter this time.

The pair have proven to be excellent beginners yet Ruby Keeping has not drawn outside box two in three starts while Jumpy Keeping has snared box one in two of three starts – all at Dubbo over Saturday’s 516m.

‘Ruby’ and ‘Jumpy’ will hold the attention of punters in a wagering sense but Roberts will also be keeping an eye on JODIE Keeping (box five) and Stanley Keeping (eight).

The first of 10 races kicks off at 5.52pm and the club, after a week off for Christmas, races again on New Year’ s Day.
