Will it be Wow? Can Bandit Ned’s array of owners summon up the support? Or maybe the man who once raced the legendary Brother Fox will become the public favourite again with his latest star Louis Rumble?
All will be revealed in just a week’s time when The People’s Pup, the dog voted on by the general public to represent GRNSW and the people of NSW in the TAB Phoenix, is announced.
GRNSW, in conjunction with the Daily Telegraph, have revealed this morning the list of the 10 dogs who are in line for the slot, with voting now commencing and running through until midday on Saturday, November 27. The winning dog will be announced on Monday, November 29.
Five of the 10 had already been known, with Group race winners Zipping Kyrgios, Wow, Bandit Ned, Light And Lily and Cash View all securing their spots courtesy of their Group race victories.
A panel of experts then selected five others to make up the ‘field’ of 10. Those five are: Good Odds Cash, Louis Rumble, Sound Of Silence, Jungle Deuce and Fire Legend.
“At a time when NSW has some outstanding greyhounds racing, we have been able to come up with 10 candidates and we would be proud to any one of them represent not only Greyhound Racing NSW, but the people of NSW in the TAB Phoenix next month,” GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Tony Mestrov said.
“The five group winners who were the original selections are obviously very well-credentialed greyhounds, and I believe with the ones the expert panel have added, we now have the 10 best greyhounds in NSW to pick from.
“It’s not going to be an easy task selecting just one, but that job now turns to the public to select The People’s Pup to head to Victoria and have a crack at the TAB Phoenix, and I’d urge everyone to get involved.”

And there is another reason to get yourselves and your family and friends involved, with everyone who casts a vote going into a draw for the chance to win up to $50,000.
As well as the chance to claim as much as $50,000 should The People’s Pup win the TAB Phoenix at The Meadows on December 18, the lucky winner and their guest will win return flights and accommodation so they can be trackside to cheer ‘their’ runner in the big race.
