Shadea Going For Two In A Row At Dubbo

By Peter Davis
For Amanda Ginn, Shadea’s win at Dubbo on November 20 was particularly special.

Shadea’s mum Kanzan stepped out for the first time at Dapto over 520m in December 2017 and was untroubled in an all-the-way win over 520m in a very solid 29.93.

She later scored at Richmond in a cracking 30.37 over 537m before later making a name for herself over staying distances. Now, Kanzan, a 15-time winner, has pride of place with Ginn and partner Craig Tuntler as their Cudal property as a full-time mum.

“Cottee (Shadea) was my favourite from the time she was born and to win from box five last week was like winning the Melbourne Cup to me,” Ginn beamed. “She’s just learning her craft … last week’s win was a little unexpected due to the (middle) box but she has shown promise.

“Some trials have been very good and others just par for the course. Her win gives us great hope for the future but it’s early days.”

Shadea’s second outing is from box one on Saturday but that’s where the upside stalls.

Her debut win in 23.14 represented the best time of the night yet the rise in class is always a leveller.

The lightly raced Rookie Fusion has posted 22.97 at Dubbo but must contend with box five. Adding to Rookie Fashion’s task is the wide racing pattern of the dogs positioned to his immediate inside.

Consistent placegetter Flambeau (box eight) will also be in the mix. He’s not missed a place in five starts at Dubbo over 400m and has been very effective from the outside alley.

The first of 11 races at Dawson Park jumps at 5.57pm.
