Lockdown Racing Schedule Update

By GRNSW
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) wish to update participants on plans around the racing schedule for the upcoming week.

Lockdown is currently scheduled to end at midnight on Friday, July 9, but there remains some uncertainty around whether the NSW Government and NSW Health will extend it beyond that point.

At present, GRNSW has put in place zoning regulations where those currently in locked down regions of the Greater Sydney area, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Wollongong, are deemed to be in Zone 1 and race only at the venues inside that zone: Wentworth Park, Dapto, Bulli, Richmond and Gosford, and Zone 2 are those outside the locked down region and those participants can race in all tracks outside the locked down region.

GRNSW has decided from a racing nomination perspective that these zones will effectively remain in place through to, and including, the race meetings drawn for Monday, July 12 at Bathurst, Maitland and Nowra.

With the uncertainty around a continuation of the Lockdown, and the potential to severely impact fields if a Lockdown was suddenly extended, GRNSW has considered it the best, and least disruptive option, to continue with the zoning until this date.

Again, as GRNSW did over the first week of the Lockdown, to offset the inability of participants in Zone 2 to enter Zone 1 and race for city prizemoney at Wentworth Park, a number of tracks in Zone 2 will race for city prizemoney this week.

Full city prizemoney (Saturday Wentworth Park stakes) will be offered for the race meeting at LADBROKES GARDENS on Friday, July 9, for races over 515m (excluding maidens).

For the meetings at Wagga Wagga on Thursday, July 8, Dubbo on Saturday, July 10, and Nowra on Monday, July 12, Wednesday City prizemoney levels will be available for races over 500m (excluding maidens) and the same will be in place for the Goulburn meeting on Friday, July 9, for racing over 440m (excluding maidens).

Programs for these meetings are being updated over the weekend and all will be available by Monday, July 5.

Further advice on the racing schedule beyond Monday, July 12 will be passed on to participants during the week as the NSW Government and NSW Health announce any further restrictions.
