Smiths Chasing More Dubbo Success

By Peter Davis
FORBES trainer Jack Smith travelled far and wide with his Group 1 winning sprinter Feral Franky and he’s hitting the bitumen in 2021 with a high quality team.

Rising star Jungle Deuce secured the Brother Fox Cup at Dubbo on May 28, a commanding performance in a near record 29.45 seconds and, on Thursday, the regally bred son of Barcia Bale annexed the Group 2 Flying Amy at Albion Park.

The black dog is now a major player in the Thursday’s State Of Origin shoot-out at Albion Park yet, at Dubbo tonight, there’s work to be done.

Jack’s wife Maree will head to Dawson Park with Miss Ezmae and Daisy’s Gold. The former won the Bill and Peg Miller Memorial at Dubbo on May 28 and posted the quickest time (29.43) of the night over 516m – .02 better than Jungle Deuce managed in the $40,000 to-the-winner cup.

Miss Ezmae contests the Dubbo heat of the GRNSW Country Challenge and takes on Brother Fox Cup placegetter Zipping Kyrgios (pictured) what should be a gripping contest.

Little separates the pair on personal best times at Dubbo - Miss Ezmae’s 29.43 is .08 or just over one length quicker.

Zipping Kyrgios, however, is suited by the reduced line-up (of five) and he’s now a seasoned top grade performer while Miss Ezmae has just turned two years of age and has just five career outings on her resume.

Daisy’s Gold lacks the high speed of her kennelmate but is well drawn (box eight) in Race Six. She’s been well held in recent starts at Dubbo and Wentworth Park yet is back in grade now and is expected to run a bold race.

It’s a late start at Dubbo tonight , the lids fly on race one at 7.54pm.
