Back in February, Greyhound Racing NSW announced a $1 million boost to prizemoney for the remainder of the 2020-21 year. One of the showcase events unveiled as part of the announcement, the $130,000 GRNSW Country Challenge, will begin in coming weeks.

The GRNSW Country Challenge will see events conducted at eight regional venues, with winners advancing to a final, to be held at Wentworth Park on June 26, the night before the Greyhound of the Year gala luncheon at the Fullerton Hotel in the city.

The regional events will carry $10,000 in prizemoney with $7,500 to each winner, and commence on June 10 at Casino (484m).

LADBROKES GARDENS (515m) will host an event on June 11, Dubbo (525m) on June 12, Gunnedah (527m) on June 13, Nowra (520m) and Bathurst (520m) on June 14, Bbet Park Taree (537m) on June 16, with the final qualifier coming from the event at Wagga Wagga (525m) on June 18.

Winners only advance to the final, with the 1st reserve from the LADBROKES GARDENS heat, and the 2nd reserve from Nowra heat.

The event will be a Non Grade (any grade) Best 8 + reserves with maidens ineligible. Greyhounds must have had at least two (2) official race starts at the track to be eligible.

The final at Wentworth Park on June 26 will carry $50,000 in prizemoney with $30,000 going to the winner.
