Bill & Peg Miller Final

Special Win For Smith With Miss Ezmae

By Michael Cowley
While he naturally had his eyes on the main event the Brother Fox Cup with three finalists, winning the supporting feature on the cards was incredibly special for trainer Jack Smith.

Smith has unearthed a very promising bitch in Miss Ezmae who took out the Bill & Peg Miller Memorial, dashing around Dawson Park in a very smart 29.43s.

“To win the Bill & Peg Miller Memorial is everything,” Smith said. “They were just great people and I dealt with Bill, and I’ve dealt with their kids and now the grand kids, so yeah it’s great to be able to win this race in their honour.

“She (Miss Ezmae) is quite smart and fairly quick, and she’s shown it in trials before, and she’s put it together tonight which was good to see.”

And Smith also was reminded after the victory that while she was known to all as Peg, Peg Miller’s first name was actually Ezmae.

“I think she had a bit of help from above,” Smith said.

Miss Ezmae jumped well and positioned up in second place behind the leader Winlock Abby, before powering to the lead up the back and racing away for an impressive 8¼ length win.

Winlock Abby held on for second with Zipping Ontario grabbing third for John Finn.

Also on the night two other feature race finals were held with Zipping Aubry taking out the Feral Franky At Stud Future Stars Final for Dubbo club president Shayne Stiff, while Peter Carr’s young dog Stinger Casey took out the Zipping Garth At Stud Mega Maiden Final.
