Plenty Of Zip At Bulli Tonight

By Peter Davis
Just over four months after remarkable trials at Bathurst over 307 metres, siblings Zipping Kansas and Zipping Conway are clearly two of the hottest young sprinters in the land.

Back on January 12, Martin and Cameron Hallinan gave the Superior Panama juveniles only their second trial from boxes (at breaking in) and Zipping Conway posted a stunning 17.69 seconds – just-on five lengths outside the track record held, since January 2012, by Entrust.

At Bulli tonight , the kennelmates seek to protect unbeaten race records – with Zipping Kansas with exiting box six in the first heat (race five) of the Jimmy Jenkins Memorial over 472m.

On debut, Zipping Kansas scored by 11¼ lengths at Bulli in a fast 26.06 then, seven days later, posted a rare 25.92 seconds win at the popular Slacky Flat venue.

His absolute class had been laid bare yet, on May 15 at Wentworth Park, Zipping Kansas was untroubled to score in a sizzling 29.69 – just .04 outside the best time of the night posted by seasoned sprinter Casino Model.

Shadowing Zipping Kansas' steep trajectory is Zipping Conway.

Zipping Conway was considered the pick of the litter when being educated and he’ll be at Winx-like odds (from box eight) in the second Jimmy Jenkins Memorial heat (race six).

After a quick start from box seven, he posted a sizzling 22.25 win over 400m at Bulli on debut (May 11) before accounting for the smart Aston Barak seven days later (over 472m) in 25.95.

Five stunning wins are on the slate and, after Tuesday, most will expect the perfect record to be maintained.

While yet to break a track record, the pair are the first siblings to have ever bettered 26 seconds over 472m and 2021’s feature race calendar won’t be far from trainer Ray Magri’s gaze.
