Huge Night Tonight At Dubbo With Brother Fox Heats

By Peter Davis
Dawson Park’s biggest night of the year is just six days away with the Ladbrokes Brother Fox Dubbo Cup offering a massive $40,000 to-the-winner.

At Dubbo tonight, two heats of the Group 2 series will be decided and the cream has risen to the top for the richest race in the club’s history.

Heats of the Bill and Peg Miller Cup (516m) complement the Cup series and there will be no place for the meek or faint of heart.

Despite meeting high class sprinters, the Forbes-prepared Jungle Deuce is sure to start a short-priced favourite in the opening cup heat (race eight).

Reports of remarkable trials (a record breaking 29.21s and 29.27s seconds) by the son of Barcia Bale come as no surprise given his glowing resume which includes a sensational 29.31s PB at Wentworth Park.

Jungle Deuce has posted eight of nine career wins at Sydney’s racing HQ, the past four in top grade company, ranging from 29.66s down to the aforementioned 29.31s.

Box four is his mill stone this time, however. More Sauce (box three) has high speed and arrives at Dubbo on the fresh side. He’s not raced since April 22 when cut down in the final bound in the Maitland Cup (450m) by Ebby Jet Power in a fast 24.87s.

The speedy Zipping Pearson – a last start winner at Wentworth Park in a career best 29.78s – exits box one and will attract support while Pam Braddon’s Blazing Lisa (box seven) should not be underestimated.

Blazing Lisa has posted eight of 14 career wins at Dubbo including a smart 29.61a at the Cup distance.

The second Brother Fox Cup heat (race nine) is rich in talent.

Sound Of Silence (11 wins from 23 starts) has secured box one, powerhouse Zipping Kyrgios (pictured) is suitably placed to his outside while brilliant front runner Zulu Warlord (box four) and Irinka Riley - a kennelmate to Jungle Deuce and a near record 29.35 winner at Dubbo on April 3 – exits box six.

While the Brother Fox series offers the highest prestige and reward dollar-wise, stars of the future contest the three Bill and Peg Miller heats.

Miss Ezmae (race five, box seven) was ultra impressive in her 29.68s maiden win at Bathurst on May 10 and, with Jungle Deuce’s recent trials at Dubbo well documented, there’s no doubt trainer Jack Smith will have given Miss Ezmae a ‘look’ at the track.

Also new to Dubbo is Mick Hardman’s Springview Magic (race seven, box seven). She flew out of box one at Wentworth Park on April 28 and trounced maiden company by 7½ lengths in 29.65s – the best time of the night.

Two weeks later, she again dazzled in a 26.07s all-the-way offering over 472m at Bulli and is a star in the making.

The first of 12 races at Dubbo tonight jumps at 7.21pm.
