Good Draws For Heats Impressive Winners

Fastest qualifiers Zulu Warlord (pictured) and Prim And Proper could clinch favouritism after drawing box one in next Saturday night's group 3 Bob Payne Sprint and group 3 Wentworth Park Gold Cup respectively.

In next Saturday's other group 3 final, the Ladies Bracelet, fastest heat winner Second Exit is likely to be sent out favourite after drawing box seven.

The JODIE Lord-trained Second Exit led throughout from box two to win her heat in 29.73 but in the past has relished an outside box and has won five of her 12 races while wearing the black rug.

Vicki's Queen was second quickest Ladies Bracelet heat winner after running down Kurios Motion in 29.89, but she raced wide from box one and has drawn awkwardly in box three in the final.

Vicki's Queen's trainer Peter Lagogiane prefers his bitch from a wide draw and is also unlikely to be impressed by the box five draw allotted to his other Bracelet heat winner Pay Call, who caught Victoria's Junk Food Junkie in the last bound in 29.99.

Kurios Motion's trainer Kerry Drynan also has two Bracelet finalists as her bitch Vamos Penny ran down tearaway leader One Dimension in 30.11.

Kurios Motion and Vamos Penny fared well in the Bracelet box draw, coming up with boxes one and two respectively.

Although Kurios Motion has the inside running Drynan said: "Vamos Penny is the quicker of my pair and I rate her my best chance in the final.''

Junk Food Junkie had box one when she led to the last stride in Pay Call's Bracelet heat, but trainer Jessica Sharp did not want the rails trap in the final.

"She likes to be drawn in the middle of the track,'' Sharp said, so she was not too disappointed when Junk Food Junkie drew the extreme outside, box eight, in Saturday's final.

While Zulu Warlord set the Bob Payne Sprint time standard of 29.58 with his all-the-way heat win, second fastest qualifier Zipping Kyrgios, who overcame a slow start from box three to win his heat in 29.72, will be hard to beat in the final from box seven.

"Zipping Kyrgios just loves Wentworth Park,'' Melinda Finn, whose husband John trains the greyhound, said.

"These days he can cope with just about any box because he will rail underneath his rivals or go around them if he has too, he has learned to handle himself so well in a field.''

Casual Glance, having only his second WP outing, led all the way to win the other Bob Payne heat in 29.78, posting splits of 5.38, 13.73 and 17.82.

His first section was .01sec quicker than the fastest heat winner's figures but his second and third splits were wide of Zulu Warlord's 13.66 and 17.73.

Trainer Michelle Lill was disappointed when her good railer Casual Glance drew out wide in box six in the final.

Prim And Proper, who led all the way from box seven to win her heat of the 720m WP Gold Cup in 41.98, has drawn ideally in box one in Saturday's final.

Prim And Proper looks certain to be the pacemaker again, with wide runner In Your Time drawing box two in the run-off.

Let's See, who ran down Zipping Niseko to win the other heat by a nose in 42.12, has drawn poorly in box six.

Zipping Niseko looks well positioned in box eight next Saturday, as she has won five of her six races wearing the pink vest.

Stanley Road, considered Australia's best stayer, had no luck when fourth in Let's See's heat, missing the jump from box three and being badly hampered at the first turn.

But he has again drawn awkwardly in the final, getting box four.
