Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg (G1)

Ennis Chasing Another Golden Easter Egg

By Jeff Collerson
Brooke and Jamie Ennis won the 2014 Golden Easter Egg with Tonk and are upbeat about their 2021 candidates at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, Got The Torque in heat one and Jim Zarr Dashian in heat eight.

Got The Torque, who has won four of his past five Melbourne starts, has box six while Jim Zarr Dashian will exit box three.

"Got The Torque is no world beater but he is a tenacious chaser, keener than Tonk (pictured winning the 2014 Egg),'' Jamie Ennis said.

"He has won three of his seven starts from box six because when he draws the rails he steps to the right as he jumps.

"Got The Torque will run in the middle of the track to the first turn and will then want to cross over.

"But Jim Zarr Dashian is much quicker, his big problem is that he plays up badly in the kennels so being in a late race puts him at a disadvantage.

"He was in the first race one night at Sandown and due to virtually taking him out of the car and putting him in his race he came out and won in 29.02, a tick outside the record.

"Jim Zarr Dashian has broken the record at Bendigo so he is a rocket, but obviously he is going to be on his game to beat Flying Ricciardo, who has box one.''

Ennis confirmed that neither of family's greyhounds has trialled at Wentworth Park.

Last Saturday night's Wentworth Park postponement has not affected the preparation of Fernando Bluey, the Australian Cup runner-up.

Fernando Bluey, who box six in heat six, is trained by Kayla Cottrell who was on her way to Sydney last week when she received news of the washed out meeting.

Cottrell's father Dave Knocker, himself a successful trainer, said: "They got as far as Holbrook last Saturday so it was an easy turn around and the dog travelled well.

"Fernando Bluey had a trial at Sandown on Sunday morning and he went super.''

Victoria's Lakeview Walter clashes with Sydney's John Finn-trained Zipping Kyrgios in heat 10 and the dog is raring to go according to trainer Monique Whelan.

"My husband and the dog were fours away from home when last week's heats were called off so they got back easily and were able to trial Lakeview Walter at Sale on Sunday night.

"Lakeview Walter knows his way around Wenty Park as he had a trial there a couple of weeks ago.''

Lakeview Walter, who has won six of 11 races, is regarded as one of Victoria's most exciting youngsters and is well positioned in box two.

The dog is unbeaten in two races from that draw and has won two from three starts out of boxes one and three.

On The Rocks, chasing her 15th win in 21 starts in heat seven, has not raced for a fortnight but is going as well as ever according to trainer Donna Campbell.

"I trialled her over 440m at Goulburn last weekend and she clocked a tick over 25sec, which I was happy with,'' Campbell said.

"On The Rocks has won two of her three races from box one, her draw on Saturday, but while that box suits her, she can't afford to miss the kick from the inside at Wentworth Park.''
