GRNSW Launch World Leading Race Data System

By The Dogs Team
It has been described as one of the most revolutionary developments in greyhound racing which will provide major advancements for all participants, and the Isolynx Tracking and Timing System is set to be introduced to NSW tracks in coming months.

The world first greyhound tracking and timing system will be installed at the new Grafton track which is due for completion in late April/May, and not only will it be installed on the new Richmond straight track, but the Isolynx will also be installed on the existing circle track.

“The Isolynx system is a great innovation for our sport, and when it was shown to myself and our Track Racing Infrastructure Committee, we immediately knew we had to have it at our tracks, to showcase the sport on another level in NSW,” Greyhound Racing NSW Chief Executive Officer Mr Tony Mestrov said.

“In particular, the inclusion of the numbers in running on the new Richmond straight track events, will be a huge benefit to all viewers.”

GRNSW has been working closely with the system’s builder, the Brook Group, for the past 18 months while they have been undergoing extensive testing, primarily on Greyhound Racing Victoria tracks, and the system was recently seen during their recent Group 1 carnivals, as pictured above.

It was extremely well received and significantly enhanced the viewers’ experience.

The system sees small chips placed in the rugs on the back/neck of each greyhound, and data is then supplied from those chips.

The system allows real time tracking and data, allows for the race order to be displayed (numbers in running) around the track, and also for the speed of each greyhound to be tracked and displayed.

The Isolynx Tracking and Timing System also has the ability to provide the distance travelled by each greyhound, individual splits and speed at those splits, and the acceleration of each greyhound.

“Not only is it visually a great addition to our sport, but the system also provides more data than ever before which can then be analysed,” Mr Mestrov said.

When up and running at both Richmond and Grafton, GRNSW will look at commercial opportunities with the extensive data.
